The only exception would be is if they are glued in instead of set in and held in place with prongs or etched channels that hold the silver into the stone, even wire wrapped that does not require glue. Silver is afterall a metal/mineral with it's own healing properties (and conductivity for energy itself!!) and added to those of the crystal that is mount in silver can be of benefit. Many of my jewelry pieces are sterling silver with a particular crystal mounted in them. The only metal settings I will are sterling silver, gold of at least 10K and copper. Then again the body has let me know that these are the only acceptable metals to date because I will break out in a rash from costume jewelry that is merely plated (even the hypoallergenic kind). There is and always will be great debate on the healing properties of crystals that have been altered in anyway. When you look at the truth of it though, a crystal is altered as soon as he or she is taken out of Mother Earth, since he/she is no longer in his/her true natural state. So, the best rule of thumb to go by is what your gut/instinct/intuition is telling you. If you pick up a pendant that catches your eye and get a nice little buzz from it, then that crystal is perfect for you in the form it is in, setting and all. Tumbled stones are more comfortable to carry in one's pants pockets but that doesn't stop me from carrying roughs. I am just reminded occasionally throughout the day when one shifts in my pocket that it is not in a good spot ... lol Blessings to your weekend all. Thank you for your detailed response. Here is an example of what I bought: http://tinyurl.com/2eha8w I believe that they are glued in. So one of my questions would be if I choose to remove them, how do I do so? The ones I bought are lapis and sodalite. But more likely what I'll do is leave them there to wear as jewelry and get other nuggets for other purposes. I appreciate your taking the time to share this knowledge with me! jayne
