Just a word of caution when choosing stones to carry in pouches and pockets.

Make sure you know what hardness each crystal is on the Mohs hardness scale:

Some crystals/minerals are too soft to carry at all, (selenite, alabaster

and other members of the gypsum family, halite and other *salt* crystal

formations, talc), while others are just soft enough that if carried with

something

like quartz could get scratched. This is part of why it is a good idea to

have in your crystal book collection an actually geological type of book that

gives the scientific information such as hardness, chemical composition,

habitat, cleavage, etc.

If you do not have any of the geological type, here is a link to some good

ones on amazon.com:

The National Audubon Field guide would be my first recommendation. The

Smithsonian Handbook is also a good one.

If you can get your hands on a new or used copy, the Eyewitness Handbooks

Series are very good for a series of handbooks for all manner of nature related

things like gemstones, mushrooms, bird eggs:

The ones you want to look at have (Eyewitness Handbooks) in the title/link..

They have good pictures and information and are usually reasonably priced as

well. I have found them in *bargain book* sections in stores such as Borders

and Barnes and Noble.

Blessings to your weekend all.
