Guest guest
I took a bag of my crystal friends to meet someone I found through this list (hi Heather!) and foolishly thought, " Hey, they're rocks--I don't need to wrap them up or treat them like they were delicate. " Well, unfortunately, some of my favorite beautiful polished spheres got dinged by some of the rougher, unpolished stones that I put in with them. Any suggestions on how to repair the finish? Would I have to get them re-polished and if so what does that entail? Or should I just live with the nicks and realize that life changes us all? <s> --Martha

Some are just too soft to be packed with other crystals). You would need special lapidary polishing tools (cloths and grits of some form I believe) or a friend that has them ;-). If you don't have those options you could check with someone in the lapidary field (even a school that has classes) to see what it would cost you to have them *repaired*. Personally I have left mine with their little *battle scars* so to speak as a reminder. Blessings to your day all. Guest guest
Martha, " Or should I just live with the nicks and realize that life changes us all? " This, to me, sounds like the perfect answer. As we go through life, ALL of us gain nicks and dings - it just adds to the beauty of who we are. For me, the stones are no different. Guest guest
Thanks, Sarah and ReNau. Guest guest
Hiya, Yes leaving them there is probably the best option. Because it probably won't be the last time you nick them. However, if it concerns you then there's a kind of powder you can buy which, when rubbed over a rough area can polish it up. I sadly can't remember what this powder is called, but the stuff I've seen is a pinkish colour, quite fine. The man who told me about it used to run our local rock/crystal shop. He also used to make jewellery out of gemstones so was very keen on polishing things ;o) If I had a nick in my favourite crystal I'd be tempted to polish it out too - especially if it's one that you rub for comfort or inspiration, etc. So, if you are of the same thinking and just can't bear to leave the nicks there, then I'd suggest going to your local rock/crystal shop and first asking the owner if he/she knows what you can do, or failing that find yourself a polisher! Anyone who loves polishing things really shiny - they should have some tricks up their sleeves ;o) Maybe the rock/crystal shop owner will know a jewellery maker or someone similar who could advise you? Hope this helps. All best, Katy On 09/09/2007, princessbbf2 <pbbf2.groups wrote: > > Martha, > > " Or should I just live with the nicks and realize that life changes > us all?
