Guest guest
lol John, You're definitely on my wave-length. I take Valerian every day - but actually now you come to mention it I reduced my daily amount a few weeks ago... I wonder if it's been taking effect more than I thought?! Drat. I adore hematite - it's one of my favourites. I have a piece in each sock (yes I know!) most of the time. Sometimes I find it calming to put it on my brow chakra but worry that this upsets the energy balance somehow? Is that true, do you think? Tiger's Eye - hmm I have some lovely tumblestones that have a very strong effect on me whenever I go near them. My brow chakra aches when I just hold them. I wonder if this would help though, it's not one I normally try for mental chatter so I'll give it a go. Thank you for your suggestions - I'll experiment further tonight Katy UK On 20/08/07, John Van Rees <john wrote: > > Katy, > > Try some hematite and Tigers Eye..... > > If that doesn't work.. try Valerian. :-) > > John Van Rees > http://www.exquisitecrystals.com > . > > >
Guest guest
Hi Katy, One of the things that works best for me is to ground my mind. I mentally connect a grounding cord straight from my mind to the center of the earth and drain off the excess energy. However, the thoughts that chatter in your mind, especially in the middle of the night, are often indicitave of the things that are upsetting you, stressing you out, and bring you out of balance. If you keep a notebook by the bed and write down the repeated themes, you will hopefully, in your waking hours, be able to address those issues and see where you need to make changes in your life. Another idea is that your mind can chatter all it wants to, but you don't have to give that chatter your attention. I often say to my chattering head, " Is that the most interesting thing you can think of to say? Blah, blah, blah, I have heard this all before, leave me alone and come back when you have something new to tell me. " And it works. As far as crystals are concerned, I use smoky quartz and hematite for grounding out excess energy. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Amy, Thanks so much for your reply too When my thoughts take over I find it really hard to stop them! I imagine I need to practise grounding my mind, as you say. I do try to clear my mind to bring a halt to the chatter, but it only seems to last for seconds. Maybe I need to persevere until the length of time it works grows? Pretty hard though. After reading your email and rereading my own, I've realised I'm quite stressed out (lol - der!). I've been working for ages without a day off, my dear neighbour just died, and (of course) I now have pmt! Plus my realisation that I'd reduced my daily dose of valerian relatively recently. (moan moan!) Good idea with keeping a note of the thoughts. I think they're probably mostly about work. Love the idea of telling my chattering mind where to go!! Will have to see if I can get that one to work too. That'd be great Yep hematite's one of my favourites. My new-found friend these past few days has been a gorgeous mini cluster of smokey quartz brought back from Switzerland. It gets very hot though - but then it's probably eating up all this excess energy! Will keep trying Katy UK On 20/08/07, Amy Milder <amymilder wrote: > > Hi Katy, > > One of the things that works best for me is to ground my mind. For more restful and calming sleep, I use rose quartz and lepidolite. Selenite can be useful as well. You might also try some chamomile tea just before bedtime (along with the valerian perhaps ... although I am not certain of their interaction). Blessings to your day all. Guest guest
Hi ReNau I love amethyst, it really helps me connect with my higher self. Which is exactly why I can't sleep with it - I have loads of good ideas flying around! With the third eye, should I be using crystals on it at night if I'm having this trouble? Maybe it's overstimulated already? Or is there a crystal to calm the third eye? I do keep being drawn to rose quartz atm and I have some very pretty tumblestones, so maybe I should use these. I don't currently have any lepidolite or selenite, but I keep hearing these mentioned so must get hold of some and experiment with them! I need to increase my collection anyhow Thanks for the reminder re chamomile tea too. I've got stacks of it and always forget at the most crucial times. Will put a post-it by my bed! I find that it goes very well with valerian ;o) Many thanks! Guest guest
You can also try Switchwords: Together (to ground), Cancel (for the thoughts) and Off (to sleep). You can repeat it as a mantra: Together Cancel Off. I also talk to my mind: " Thank you for sharing; what you have to say is quite interesting, but I now choose to think about something else (and then you name what you prefer to think or do). " Remember that the more you want to shut it up, the louder it gets, so just acknowledge and move on. You can play the game: " What if, " and start making up some fun things, for example: What if I could rest my mind and finally fall asleep? What if I had some fun at night and still wake up refreshed? What if this stress left me and I found great soothing calm? Even if you don't sleep, at least you are having fun. Lol Of course, none is related to crystals, though, as I am just beginning to learn about them thanks to this group. Guest guest
Hi Maria and everyone else who replied yesterday, Many thanks for your tips! Last night I went to bed with some extra valerian, some tiger's eye and smokey quartz (so thanks to everyone else's pointers there!), and your switchwords, Maria! It all worked brilliantly until... my boyfriend woke up in a bad mood and was thumping and banging around the house!! By this point I'd only had 6 hours' sleep and there was no going back to sleep, no matter how good the techniques, because there was just too much noise and angry vibes floating around I have a nice clean kitchen and the laundry's done - at least my bf cleans when he's upset!! But I'm still shattered - grr. Ah well. I have high hopes for the techniques, so maybe once he's calmed down and I've done a bit of work I'll be able to go for a nap. Your tips on take a light-hearted approach to my thoughts was a new one for me I tried it a little too and it seemed to help. I also politely said to my mind, 'that's a really good idea, please remind me of that when I'm awake properly later'. The switchwords idea was very interesting. I've realised that I do this with words already a bit, but hadn't really done it in the same way. When I was just a teenager I discovered that the word 'away' repeated in my head or whispered helped if I was in a lot of pain - e.g. period pains or feet cramps. It was a soothing, soft word (no hard edges) but a sweep of the hand at the same time would kind of push the pain away. It does need repeating a lot tho. It's good to get some tips in addition to crystals - I'm always open to suggestions! Good luck with your learning. I'm about to go on a weekend crystal healing course, hopefully one of a few if it goes to plan. I'm somewhere near the beginning of my path here. Will test further this evening Thanks everyone, Katy UK On 21/08/07, Dr. Maria Moratto <drmoratto wrote: > > You can also try Switchwords: > Together (to ground), Cancel (for the thoughts) and Off (to > sleep). > You can repeat it as a mantra: Together Cancel Off. > I also talk to my mind: " Thank you for sharing; what you have to > say is quite interesting, but I now choose to think about > something else (and then you name what you prefer to think or > do). Guest guest
Hi Katy I would say that your mental body is out of balance. Do you balance your subtle bodies when you do a crystal healing? If not then this could explain why your crystal healer sorts you out but you're not getting the same results. After you've opened and balanced your chakras (let me know if you need advice on this) then take a clear quartz point and direct it at your earthstar below your feet. Just point it towards the ground between your feet while you're sitting or standing and your intention will do the rest. Then work through your subtle bodies in order (Etheric, Emotional, Mental, Astral, Causal, Soul, Integrated Spiritual) and your intention is: " I ask for my ..... body to be brought into alignment with my physical body to the magnetic core of the earth " . Use a pendulum whilst you're doing this and wait for your yes response to indicate when the body has been brought back into alignment. Take each one in turn starting with the etheric. Other people like Barbara Ann Brennan have different names for the last few bodies than I've been trained with, it doesn't really matter what you call them. Hope this helps. Where in the UK are you based? I'm in East Anglia. Love and Light Samantha
Guest guest
Oooooo thank you for this, Sam, I was wondering what I was missing I've just signed up for the beginning of a set of crystal healing workshops so I'm hoping to learn about the subtle bodies then. I know nothing about them atm! (How terrible!) I'm in Northampton area, by the way. My sister used to go to uni in East Anglia, Norwich. Isn't it cold atm?!?! Will have to start a sun dance if this keeps up lol! Thank you, Katy UK On 22/08/07, Sam Birch <sam.birch wrote: > > Hi Katy > > I would say that your mental body is out of balance.
