Does anyone have thoughts on using beads vs. stones? I would appreciate any

comments, thoughts!

It would be easier to have an opinion if you were a little more

detailed/specific with yur question.

Using beads or stones for what?

Using what kind of beads or stones for what?

Instead of using stones for *anything* using beads. Not one thing in

particular, just if beads are as therapeutic as stones. I am talking in

general, to have a collection of beads instead of using stones.

Aloha Melissa and All. . .

Beads allow stones and their properties to conveniently worn on or near the

skin. The energetic or electrical properties of the stones are connected to the

electrical properties of the body and in general an effective way to enhance

their effectiveness. The quartzes (Rose, Amethyst, Citrine, Smokey, Citrine and

Clear Quartz) are all available in bead form and easily made into jewelry.

Using quartz in earrings is said to bring balance. Malachite is often used in

bracelet form to ease arthritic pain. Lapiz worn near the throat can stimulate

the thyroid, It is common to see beads arranged in chakra colors and used as

anklets and bracelets. Hematite is often chosen for anklets for its grounding

properties. Jewelry is a great way to combine the energetic properties of

stones and a beautiful way to display their beauty.

I sense that your question is also asking whether raw or natural stones are

more or less effective than polished ones. Katrina Raphael discusses this in

one of her books and states that it depends on the intended use and that neither

is better or worse. Polishing enhances the vibrational qualities and

practicality of use. Stones are often cut and polished into shapes that are

used as massage/acupressure tools, something that would be less practical in the

raw form. When using raw crystal and minerals, the principles that can guide

you in their use are: Energy flows toward light, toward heat, toward water,

toward the termination point and something I learned recently, that it flows

away from the earth.

We have a craft booth that sells raw and polished minerals. We are often

asked to carry beads. The amount of investment and space it would take for us

to stock such is beyond our capacity right now. There are many companies on

line that offer beads at good prices. One of the most popular is Fire Mountain

(google to find). A caution that we advise when purchasing is to be aware that

some of the beads offered are synthetic and some are dyed and some are

stabilized with resin. The catalogs generally mark this clearly, but many first

time buyers are not aware of differences, so if this is important to you be

aware of that. Most of the catalogs do offer limited information on their

energetic properties, which is a plus.

Hopefully this will answer a few of your questions.
