Guest guest
[i've posted this question on a couple of groups, so don't be surprised if you see it elsewhere!] A friend has asked me to look for information on Druid Stone - also called Oakstone, which is a form of Barite (British: Baryte). This forms as stalactites, and is found in the Peak District, Derbyshire, England. I have found a couple of good photos online: http://www8.ocn.ne.jp/~saruneko/oak.htm http://www.curriehj.freeserve.co.uk/england4.htm And she has mineralogical information already, but is looking for info on healing and metaphysical uses. Can anyone help? Thank you! Mary
Guest guest
Mary- > A friend has asked me to look for information on Druid Stone - also called Oakstone, which is a form of Barite... <snip> And she has mineralogical information already, but is looking for info on healing and metaphysical uses. > The spirits of Oakstone mirror back to us the magic of the great Tree Elders, reflecting the mysteries of growth, expansion, rooting deeper and stretching taller. The medicine these stone spirits share invite us to consider the growth rings of our own soul, to sit with our own journey - where we've been, where we're headed, what lessons we've learned along the way and, most importantly, how we can apply those lessons to support further growth. Like the spirits of Moss Agate, Oakstone Elders are a bridge between the Earth Elders and the Green Elders - the stone spirits and the plant spirits. They remind of us of the interconnectedness of all of life and, in that way, inspire a reconnection within us. This dance brings healing to the facets of our wholeness that feel cut off, separated and disconnected, particularly from the medicine and beauty of the natural world. The spirits of Oakstone teach us that we must learn greater respect for Mother Nature, a respect once had in lifetimes past but lost now as we've become a modern culture largely obsessed with technology and information. Nature has, for many of us, become an abstract concept, rather than a living presence with which we maintain deep relationships. Oakstone asks us to be more conscious of environmental issues and to take steps to live in better, cleaner, more respectful ways as individuals and as a community. In a related way the spirits of Oakstone ask us to stop viewing the Earth Mother and her name children, including the stones, plants and animals, as commodities - as " things " to be used for our own ends. These are our brothers and sisters and, in truth, our Elders that have so much to teach us. Modern people have forgotten the sacred way, and the call many of us feel to the Earth Elders is often an answer to a deeper call to remember, but we'll never get there if we continue to treat the stones as things and tools, objects to be used and manipulated. Oakstone reminds that remembering happens only from a place of reverence, which starts by seeing the whole of Creation as it really exists. Stones and trees and animals aren't things. They are great spirits, with great wisdom and medicine and magic to share. It's only when we meet them in their truth that we will experience a rebirth into a sacred path that's as an old and beautiful as the Earth herself. The spirits of Oakstone invite us to remember. In other ways the Oakstone Elders help us to understand what's needed for our own individual growth. The medicine these spirits share can speak to " growth " in the broadest and most specific ways, helping us to see and understand what we need to move forward in our lives. When we are ready to grow, we can sit in reverential silence with these Elders and ask them, " Please, great spirit, show me what I need to move forward. What do I need to take my next step to MORE? " If we approach with respect and an open heart, the answer will come. There's always so much more, but I hope the above helps in some way. And I hope the sharing is helpful to your friend. The spirits of Oakstone are beautiful on so many levels. Their unique physical beauty reflects the deep beauty they hold in their spirit, and the deep beauty they inspire in our lives. > Thank you! My pleasure. I trust that your friend will enjoy their dances with this dear spirit.
