Guest guest
Are there any books out there on how to construct or layout your own Labyrinth? Whenever I get to have some land of my own, this is something I would like to do, but don't know where to start. All I know is that I'd like it to be a garden with herbs growing between the paths. -Sandra
Guest guest
Sandra, there are a lot of resources on the web. Some I used were http://www.angelfire.com/tn/SacredLabyrinth/ http://www.geomancy.org/ (labyrinths are under sacred spaces) that page will direct you here http://www.labyrinthsociety.org/index.phtml this will help with orientation http://solar.physics.montana.edu/YPOP/Classroom/Lessons/Sundials/equinox.html Hope these help. Some of them also have reading lists if you are interested in buying books. , " Sandra " <gypwytch wrote: > > Are there any books out there on how to construct or layout your own > Labyrinth? Guest guest
---Sis ,there are many manners of material out there .Originally ,I surfed the net and found information. There is a seed pattern ,that helps to guide the mind on a clear direction.Taking it in increments ,is about the only way for me ,it played with my mind when I tried to bite off the whole thing.Drawing one ,quilting it ,making a tabletop model ,are good ways ,for an absolute beginner lol..you would get a good chuckle watching my first attempts.Theres ghosts all over the place .I then painted a smaller model of a rainbow labyrinth in the floor. My cousin thought it was a rug.So many coats of washable paint and this and that.It is my circle .Circles of stone .I finally had to settle for a 3 circuit laby. For now ,and pour all my experiments into her .I had to put up a fence around her ,to keep the animals out .I brought in dirt to make it a turf. Now ,I am slowly getting the bricks laid down ,where it will be walked upon.3 circuit ,still rather large. And thinking of leaving up the fence ,and growing honeysuckle vines into the fence .Like a little house.Start out ,if you wish ,practicing the seed pattern. It can be googled and found on the net.Ive got to go back there myself for some more info, only hope ,I find the bookmark .I know the labyrinth is quite consuming for myself ..An ongoing working .As little or as much as you wish to do .It will become quite personal ,or can .However you make it ,will be your lessons with it .Better in my case ,that I took small bites along the way.I beleive that hwerever this symbol lies ,there within is a temple ...Whatever ,it is personal between your temple and yourself .Ive had a great deal of pleasure along this path .It is like birthing a portal ..I see mine as my daughter .lol....enjoy the blessed event .Modron In , " Sandra " <gypwytch wrote: > > Are there any books out there on how to construct or layout your own > Labyrinth? Guest guest
Thankyou for all the info and the links, I'll be checking it all out shortly . I like the idea of quilting the design. I've recently gotten into traditional rug hooking, and hooking the labyrinth into a rug for a healing/meditation room would be nice idea. -Sandra
Guest guest
Small labyrinths, called finger labyrinths, are also excellent for those who don't have space for a walking one. Good luck with your project. The rug sounds great. diosa , " Sandra " <gypwytch wrote: > > Thankyou for all the info and the links, I'll be checking it all out > shortly .
