holiday season

I wish and hope that you are all having a great holiday season filled

with joy and harmony and that life just gets better all the time for all

of you.

The Year here in the Northern Half of the planet is winding down . Even

here in the Los Angeles area the weather has turned distinctly cold and

it feels like Winter . O.K .the mandarin oranges are getting ripe and

the Camellias are blooming so it may not seem like winter here to most

folks who live outside of the original La La Land but Winter is

relative. It is up to 56 degrees this morning but seems very coold

though when I lived in San Francisco 56 was about when we would go

outside with out our coats. Anyway it is a good time to hunker inside

and reflect and plan and dream. I have not been making resolutions and

formal fixed plans because between time speeding up and various

unexpected events the last few years my ability to complete projects

and follow schedules has been nullified . The Gemininess of having too

much on the plate and being somewhat easily diverted is also a factor

of course. I do expect to do better from now on.

 

Being an extremely eclectic family we have a vast number of holidays and

festivities we could celebrate, so rather than singling out a specific

cause of celebration pretty much the whole period from Halloween

through New Years Day is the Holiday season . This is the first

time in about six or seven years that we are actually doing much of

anything because of various events with jobs , deaths, illness,

accidents and surgeries etc.had consumed the season instead . This

however is and has been a year of conclusions and renewal and in

appreciation we are celebrating a bit . We celebrate More about our

victories and improvements , health and life and the cycle of life

seasons and family communication & healing rather than about calendar

holidays and religious markers. Gifts and shopping have never been a

big part of our holidays anyway Some years because of being unfunded

but also because only one person in this family likes to shop and we

are bizarrely skittish in crowds me and the girls being sensitive to

energies and my spouse being a ( now Retired ) Police security

specialist who tends to switch into cop/bodyguard mode in crowds. This

year though, the youngest girl(18) manifested her full on Virgo mode

she has learned to alleviate and prevent pain is in love /engaged

so she wants the whole ball of Wax .We have gotten a slim unlit

artificial tree a real wreath from Trader Joes and a goose. ( and

ham,ducks, Rib roast, and smoked salmon) I got presents this year !

a small freezer , a Crockpot and a food saver allowing me to indulge

my foodie psychosis after a long break. We got a usable range at last

in September after the door front snapped off the old one. Nicole

has replaced my ornament collection which she had smashed during

her child hood . My oldest daughter Jana, (thirty one) has returned to

college and is doing well . Mara at 20 has been having success

improving her reading and speech , she is finishing her third Beladi

set (belly dance bra and hip belt) which her Costume Beading teacher

Doyne Allen, says is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen in his

life!! and someone anonymously gave me an Amazon gift certificate so

I'll may be able to get a book or two this year . Well I had not

intended to write the dreaded Holiday letter but that does seem to be

what this is becoming . I did just get a solstice gift of a lovely

rainbow moonstone pendant, the sweetest tiny Malachite egg and a

larger Tigers Eye egg and a marble heart . A friend dropped by with a

rock she had picked up in her travels and was initially quite shocked

when I told her that it was a piece of schist, but we did get that

straightened out quickly. I really want to thank everyone for sharing

their knowledge and intuitions and experiences about stones and

crystals and making this list a friendly and helpful place for everyone .
