Guest guest
FYI, Read this on another board and it checks out. Jean << You are being tracked - Urgent information for all group members: If you belong to any Groups this is important... Sharing a tidbit of information: is now using something called " Web Beacons " to track users around the net and see what you're doing and where you are going similar to cookies. is recording every website and every group you visit. Take a look at their updated privacy statement: http://privacy./privacy About half-way down the page, in the section on cookies, you will see alink that says web beacons. Click on the phrase web beacons. That will bring you to a paragraph entitled " Outside the Network. " In this section you'll see a little " click here to opt out " link that will let you " opt-out " of their new method of snooping.Once you have clicked that link, you are exempted.Notice the " Success " message on the top of the next page. Be careful because on that page there is a " Cancel Opt-out " button that, if clicked, will *undo** the opt-out. Guest guest
Also posted there: Note: This opt-out applies to a specific browser rather than a specific user. Therefore you will have to opt-out separately from each computer or browser that you use. Jean <jfish1754 wrote: FYI, Read this on another board and it checks out. Guest guest
Hello, If you are interested in taking advantage of the opt out option, I have also learned that you need to do this for every browser/computer from which you or anyone else has every logged onto . And any time you upgrade or change browsers you will need to do so as well. The beacons are browser specific, not user specific so they pick up all online activity. Guest guest
Hi Did anyone also notice this at the bottom of that page? " Effective March 28, 2002 " This isn't new, it's also pretty standard web activity. You only have something to worry about if you're using the internet for illegal purposes. Hope this helps L & L Sarah , " Jean " <jfish1754 wrote: > > FYI, > > Read this on another board and it checks out. > > Jean > > << > You are being tracked - Urgent information for all group members: If > you belong to any Groups this is important...
