Guest guest
There is a famous set of suggestions 10 stones for women by Karen Ryan.at http://www.astrologyzine.com/crystal-5.shtml We don't post copies of work by non list members here unless permission is given. We respect copy write and we also want our discussions to be based on the experience and intuition of the members here rather than just echoing and repeating standard lore. There are of course many more than ten stones that work with and for women and Womens issues and most of these are equally effective in work with and for Men , pets, children etc . Karens set of suggested stones are Amber, Amethyst, Apache Tears, Red Coral , Garnet, Jade, Jasper, Rose Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Sodalite All of which are lovely stones with a multitude of missions and messages for us all . Women are generally encouraged to nurture others, to control our emotions, to be healers, to be strong yet sensitive. We also seek stones to help us develop our own spiritual wisdom. The descriptions about these stones on Karens' list seem to be primarily concerned with qualities of spirit. My initial gut reaction was that the choices and descriptions in this particular set were written with traditional womens' lifestyles and relationships in mind rather than the more varied lifestyles and occupations many women have today. Most other lists of healing crystals for women that I've encountered are more focused either on physical healing or on Esoteric issues and Goddess work. " Womens " stones may also be called upon for help with uniquely female issues such as menstruation, pregnancy and " mothering " in addition to physical healing and relationship issues and issues which effect everyone..My favorite " womans stone " Moonstone, did not make it into this group of ten but then I see that it is on her list of stones for men. It is good to see some of the less common stones from a huge assortment of stones that are of special interest for woman and womens issues. These selections include stones for work focused on spirituality, on emotional strength, on healing and compassion etc.. Being a woman I consider all stones to be womens' stones but some others that have been particularly responsive in stepping forward in aid of " womans " issues Include the Calcites, Ammonite , Pearl, Volcanic Cinder . I'd like to have a sharing here from members here about what they consider to be " womens " stones. and Womens' issues I'd also like to hear about what if any stones you personally feel are most supportive for Women, What you may feel are the most significant issues and needs for Woman today . Please also let us know about any that step forward to you as " mens " stones and issues. Guest guest
Hi Peggy, I'd like to add Iolite which has a high concentration of magnesium. Magnesium is at the low ebb (low concentration) of a womans body during menstration. Also reccomended for sleep deprivation because of magnesium and also it is the color recommended. So wear a silver ring with iolite or put a piece under your pillow during low ebb moon cycles. (One of my pet peeves with humanity is a gender-bias regardless of what way it slants). Take Volcanic stones (any form ... lava, obsidian, etc) these are born from fiery sources ... i.e. Passion ... for either to be called a woman's stone I think is more in keeping with Pele that Hawaiian Goddess of the Volcanoes: (From Wikipedia: _http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pele_(Goddess_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pele_(Goddess) ) In _Hawaiian mythology_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaiian_mythology) , Pele is a goddess of _fire_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire) , _lightning_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning) , _dance_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance) , _volcanoes_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcano) and _violence_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence) , a daughter of _Haumea_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haumea) and _Kane Milohai_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kane_Milohai) . She lives on _Kilauea_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilauea) . To *label* a stone as a *Man's* stone or a *woman's* stone would be to me limiting in who would use it for it's energies, especially when it come to neophytes. A male newcomer might be confused with such labels and say " Oh I can't us Rose Quartz because I was told it is a *Woman's* stone. Where in essence it is more of a feminine stone due to the attributes we as humans label as Man or Woman. (Love usually being associated more with a Woman then a man on levels of tenderness and caring ... the softer more vulnerable side of human). We all know Men we would classify as Feminine and Women we would classify as Masculine. To me these are people who embrace both halves of the whole. We also know the extreme for each gender as well ... the butch man who won't hug another man and won't shed a tear and the prim and frilly woman who would never pump her own gas or do anything that is *Man's* work. These are folks who deny the opposite half that makes the whole. Stones, if viewed however as masculine or feminine by their properties are then usable by both genders. It merely depends on the specific needs of the individual. A stone that can assist a woman with menstrual issues to me would have every likelihood of assisting a man in being more compassionate to those issues and possibly a better understanding of what his partner/sister/mother is going through. The Butch male would do well to work with feminine energy stones to tap into the other side of the whole. As would the prim, frilly woman would do well to work with masculine energy stones to tap into the other side of the whole. Blessings to your days and nights. I agree with you that stones are not specific to or limited one or the other. I personally find both masuline and feminine aspects and nature in every stone type whatever the traditional gender attribution is so I am uncomfortable with gender assignments to stones , oplants etc myself .. This is a great example of personalized intuitive variances .
