Guest guest
Hi Freespirit, while I am not the one to answer the question of how to store crystals, I have mine in plastic storage boxes, with each stone having their own compartment. I am here to give you a great place to shop online for stones and crystals, wands and other things.WWW. Dragon's Crystal Reverie.com The owner's name is Alyce and she goes out of her way to be helpful. The site is full of crystals and stones and if you don't find what you are looking for just drop her an email and she will find it for you. Enjoy her site. Guest guest
Hi there When I first got into crystals, I was advised to store them in natural materials as that is the most healthy for them. Also, that clear crystals can take on the vibration of the material they are stored in, but coloured crystals tend to have a fixed vibration of their own. I have mine stored in 2 wooden boxes. I have bought crystals online quite a few times and been very pleased with them. I've bought from www.hogglewick.com <- they're based in the UK but do ship elsewhere. Also you can go to www.ebay.com and look for the store called 'Topaz Spirits' (seller ID is 'topazspirit') She's based in US and has some fantastic crystals. Not forgetting our own Mike Eggleston & his ebay store 'Innervision Crystals' (also in US) I personally don't always get an immediate reaction to the crystal energy, which makes for a loooooong shopping trip !!!! (plus finding crystal shops near me is not easy) Hope this helps L & L Sarah freespirit_iam <1_freespirit wrote: Hi Everyone! I would like to know what is the best way to store your crystals? Guest guest
Thanks so much for your insight! I never meant to say I was storing them away, I think it might have been misunderstood. I just wanted to know where to put the ones I work with when I am not working with them. Guest guest
Hi, I 've heard storing them w/ Rosemary. I read that Mugwort is good. W/ an amethyst. And I wondered if storing a stone w/ an herb of same qualities (rhodocrosite w/ ginger or carnation for example) might increase the qualities of the crystal? Guest guest
Funny thing ... When I bought the boxes I use for mine, I remember thinking at the time 'and they even have air holes in the lids so the crystals will still be able to breathe'. I haven't thought about that again since, till I read this. I'd like to have them out on display, but I really don't have the space - I also don't trust my cats not to play with them !!! Crystals can become something of an *obsession* once one has started gathering and working with them (sometimes just for their beauty and other times for the charge you get when you hold them). In our meditation room, there isn't a flat surface that doesn't have crystal displayed on it, the livingroom mantle is covered with crystals and all flat surfaces in my bedroom has crystals. Guest guest
FreeSpirit, I keep many around here and there, but I do have a crystal sanctuary where I keep some wands and crystals that I can't possibly keep out. It is actually a wooden coin box and it does have some royal blue colored velvet spots inside it where I lay them on. Inside I also have a mix of sage and lavender that I get from Patrice at Infinite Vibrations. I get a lot of my things from her. If you want her email address just ask me. Mike has nice things too. (Mike, you knew I would not leave you out!) I often keep a piece of dried sage around my crystals even though they are displayed out in the open. I keep some in my bow window, however, you must keep in mind that some crystals will fade in the sun such as amethyst, and pink crystal quartz, etc. I have an old antique mission cabinet that I keep some of my things in such as oils, books, tapes and crystals. I somehow developed a budding collection of obsidian spheres that I keep in the cabinet. I do not cover them as suggested in Melody's book, because they are behind glass and I want them to show off all their splendor and glory. They are awesome and should be seen and not hidden. Unveiled they still have my respect. I carry a pouch with me. Inside I have a crystal point, a flourite palm stone and a tumble Unakite (sp? It's late, and I am tired..good excuse huh?). I keep the point and the Unakite in their own little bag inside the pouch. I am anal about hurting them so I keep them seperated. I had a few accidents when I first started purchasing crystals and I am a bit paranoid since. I do give my crystals a sun bath once a week. I put them in the window for at least 5 hours a week or more. I had all my crystals out, but truthfully, it was cumbersome dusting and I don't need to be discouraged in the cleaning department, so the sanctuary works for me. I do try and give them some sun as well. I think lifestyles and your personal relationship with your crystals and how you work with them has a lot to do with how you should handle them. Let's face it, families learn to live with each other and along with their conditions. If room is challenge then you find ways to deal with it. I have a big crystal family, and the small guys who I am not working with go to the sanctuary to rest and hang. It's just the way it has to be here for the now. Anyhow, it sounds like you got a lot of great advice already and I just put in my 2 cents. As far as buying online, I do it all the time and I have never been dissatisfied. You know what you want when you see it. It's usually better when you get it and you hold it. My problem is I want everything and think I need it all. I am ready for anything! Hope this helps! NightOwl
I designed my storage to be as mobile as possible. A plastic fishing tackle box (with dividers) works great, and holds alot! I bought felt and used double sided tape to line the compartments with it to minimize impact of any jostling that occurs. I adjusted the spacing of the compartments so that they are groups mostly by chakra, with a few specialty compartments. There is even a compartment to keep my incense and holder, so that not only do the stones remain in the presence of sandalwood, but the incense is available to me anytime, anywhere. It also snaps shut in a dependable way, allowing you to store it any direction (just turn it slowly and gently when changing the angle--be nice and not shake them up). The biggest downside to this is that it is plastic--ugh! But the ability to carry so much of my collection with me is priceless! The box (which you can also find marketed as a bead box in craft departments, is cheaper when you find the same item in the fishing section) slides into my bag and I can take it with me almost anywhere, and no one needs to know, and I have the serenity of having them so near. The plastic is not ideal, I know, yet I do believe that the intent overcomes it. I believe that it cannot harm the crystals, nor prevent their energy from reaching me. The crystals are what they are, they do what they do, and nothing such as mere plastic can stop them from reaching such a willing recipient. When I get home at night, I place the box on my nightstand and leave the lid open. Before I go to sleep, I hold my hand over them, pick up those I'm drawn to, and mentally talk to them. Then in the morning I close the lid, gently slide it into my bag, and we're off. I don't have to repack them always, but they are not neglected. Also, its easier to "grab and go" if there is an unplanned reason to leave in a hurry; if it was a hassle to gather them up then they'd be left behind often. Its nice being able to take them to work, place the bag containing them under my desk next to my feet, and just have them there. Even if I can't get them out and handle them, I mentally turn my attention to them. Its nice. Again, plastic is unideal, but bottom line is respect and communication and interaction. They would be more neglected if I couldn't do this, or if it became burdensome to get them out and put them away. Oh, and for the bag I used a light colored (natural, off white) canvas. I understand the arguments both ways, but the idea of black bags bothers me so I used clear/white plastic with white felt, in a light colored canvas bag. The canvas is nice because it is durable and natural. Again, the bag is an ordinary bag; I'm not making a scene or drawing attention to myself by letting it be obvious what I have. And if I run into someone with whom I feel moved to share them with, they're right there!
