Guest guest
Hi, I would suggest for an engagement ring or rosequartz for love, ruby for fertility, emerald for commitment and fidelity ... or your birthstone. Diamonds are today unlucky stones because of the abuse of human rights in the mines so I strongly recomend not to get one. I can't say what the ecological morals are of diamond mining anywhere are though. I've got mixed emotions on the ways and means of how we " acquire " many of our stones - mixed in that, ripping them from the bowels of the Earth and damaging the local ecosystems in the process has to have *some* impact on the stones themselves, and on us and the Planet as a whole, of course. Guest guest
Dear Friends, The diamond thing is a really hard issue these days. I too would not buy new diamonds and for me personally it is not recommended in my chart. In the Vedas it is only recommended to wear diamonds if it is productive for your astrological chart...a strong venus. Otherwise it would be considered unfortunate. Of course you would need to know how to read your chart or go to a jotish..one adept at reading vedic astrology. My personal chart calls for ruby, coral and yellow sapphire. In Vedic astrology it is the correlation between the planetary frequency and color radiations from the planet matched with the color frequency or the gems. So in place of clear quartz, for instance, you could instead wear zircon, danburite or even clear quartz. For Yellow sapphire one may chose citrine or golden imperial topaz instead. When it comes to birthstones well there opens a can of worms because the birthstone info we know was crafted in 1942 when the Association fo Retail Jewelers created system based on what was commercially available and what they wanted you to buy. Outrageous...but think of it : if you were born in January the prescribed stone would be garnet for both January Capricorns and January Aquarians. For me garnet has a strong fiery energy and is a good conductor of heat...I personally would sooner prescribe it to Aries before Capricorn earth and Aquarius Air....Something to think about. I throw that system out the window and use vedic and native wisdom. Check out Earth Medicine Astrology by the late great teacher Sun Bear. Back to diamonds......truthfully the only diamonds I would feel comfortable getting is something in a family hand-down or a treasure from an antique store. Guest guest
Hi All I also feel that we can grow past all of OUR LIMITATIONS, on all this information, after all it does just come from someone else viewpoint, and we are much much more than someone else's viewpoint, I believe we can go past the limitations set by our astro sign, and become much more, as for diamonds I don't care if they are new or old, cuz the old ones were at one time NEW, so what difference does it make? Guest guest
Since silica is the prescribed element for Capricorn according to many texts including homeopathic, I would recommend Quartz and obsidian. You find it in so many of the bodies functions including the bones and the skin which govern Capricorn. Capricorn is about reliable structure and that is the silica molecule...it is reliable and has the most stable vibrational pulasation, that is why it is used in timing devices and Saturn, the planetary ruler of Capriorn, is also known as father time. Of course one can never go solely by birthsign...you must honor all planets in your chart, how they are in relation to each other and alone. You have many more factors to consider. When dealing with the vedic system and other systems for that matter it can be a prescription for health, wealth and happiness but there are so many things to address in life. For me, I wear my prescriptions on a daily basis, most of the time, but I love so many stones and some days I just have to wear them and always work with them. Guest guest
Peggy, I was not aware of the mining issues etc. of diamonds until after I submitted my eloquent statement about my spin on diamonds. thereafter i read the posts about how nasty they are mined. Ahhhh...well, the truth is out on the table. Ingorance is sure blissful! Not that it's funny, but i giggled about your daughter because I feel that when it comes to diamonds they have a very strong power to cast you into a deep deep spell. I must admit i am spellbound by them, totally spellbound! (the lights at costco have a way with them too, been there, drooled there) Now my absolute favorite ring is my mom's very old diamond/platinum wedding band that she just recently gave me. Must be around 60 years old and I love it. Mom is in her mid 80's now. I have drooled over it since I was a little girl, and always wanted diamonds like Mommy's. Watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at a young age did not help me any either. I have a lot to learn I guess! But... Pear shaped and square shaped, those rocks don't loose their shape! You know the rest... A birthstone isn't ONLY the sun-sign it's the combination of sun and moon sign and ascendant and for an engagement ring also 7th house sign. Guest guest
Hi Jimena, Congratulations on the happy event! 1. the fact that you're attracted to Citrine is an indication that it's good for you. Natural Citrines are pretty rare and quite valuable so it's a good stone for an engagement ring - beware of irridated Amethysts sold as Citrines [there was an intensive discussion on this issue in this group]! 2. If you send me you're birthdate including time and place of birth - I'll check out your chart and give you a list of stones which are personally suitable for you. 3. My husband gave me for our engagement an Eilat Stone Silver pendant which he mined, cut and made himself. Eilat Stone from the Copper mines at Timna (a combination of Crysocolla, Turquoise, Malachite and Azurite) are recommended for ballancing Male-Female energies. At the time I wasn't aware of the attrocities of the De-Beers Diamond cartel but I instinctively felt that Diamonds weren't for me and after I learnt about the abuse of human rights in the Diamond mines I was grateful that my engagement present wasn't a Diamond. Guest guest
IN general....without doing the chart and being specific....I would recommend crystal for Capricorn and Jade for Taurus. Here is a link with more information: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.09/diamond.html A couple years ago, well before I moved in with him, I told my boyfriend that should he ever need to know, I would prefer a man-made diamond - for the geeky, science-nerd delight in knowing that guys in lab coats had gotten the best of the De Beers diamond cartel. Guest guest
Hello I totally agree with your post. There is so much suffering in the diamond industry and so much exploitation from big corporations and the man women and children that dig them out do not get a penny for there back breaking work. Man made diamonds are just awesome and you can have some real beauties and a nice carat size with out the big price. I know of a reliable dealer that I have purchase from for years, if any one is interest just contact me directly and I will be glad to give you there name.
