Praying Mantis?

Hello Everyone,

I wonder if anyone knows of the spiritual significance of praying mantises?

This summer I had a green, about 1 1/2 inch long praying mantis hanging out on

my hemlock by the front door. I started talking to him, and he would turn

around and cock his head at me and when I put my arm out he jumped on me and let

me take him for a walk around the front yard. I did this 2-3 times w/ him. I

always put him back, of course.

Some days later, I was dismayed to find that a wasp that had been hanging

around, actually stung my little friend and they were locked in some kind of

death throes together. I was actually upset for a few days about this. Then

about a week later, I was letting my cat in in the middle of the night thru the

front door, and a huge praying mantis, 6-7 inches long and murky brown in color

was right in front of the front door. My cat almost trampled her coming in. I

picked up this friend and tried to shoe her off the front porch, where I thought

she'd be safer. She seemed to look at me and say gently, I'm fine, I'll be ok,

you don't have to do anything.

Does anyone know what this could mean? I've lived in this house for 40 years

and don't normally see these critters about.

Thanks,

Esmel
