Guest guest
Sorry to ask this question again, but does anyone know the meaning of basalt? Has anyone had any experience working with it? Apparently it is the most common rock surrounding our mother earth. SO it must be pretty important. Kim

Hi Kim Google's response: http://www.answers.com/basalt & r=67 There were 900,000 + hits for basalt... so I think you'll do well to determine what basalt is first. From there you can get specifics. It's a big topic and the research should be extensive. I leave in Colorado and have been to the town of Basalt many times without knowing I might find some basalt specimens in the surrounding area. Anyway, happy reading! Victoria
Guest guest
Kim- > Sorry to ask this question again, but does anyone know the meaning of basalt? > I'll be glad to offer what I can on these spirits. From a physical perspective Basalt is a extrusive igneous rock, which may include such diverse spirits as Olivine (what we more readily call Peridot) and various Feldspars (usually of the Plagioclase tribe). It's volcanic origins, which can be felt so clearly in this spirit, are mirrored in the energies of fire and transformation Basalt spirits share so readily and so easily with us in our dances with them. Basalt has a low viscosity, which, in spiritual terms translates to its ability to facilitate flow - especially flow that carries with and within it the medicine of cleansing. These spirits are experts are meeting and handling significant expressions of dissonance and ushering them away from us, where the dissonant energy is them transformed and released. It is no wonder that these spirits often dance in the hot stone massages. Aside from their physical properties, which enable to hold and transmit heat beautifully, their medicine makes them perfectly suited for a dance designed to relax and release. The sprits of Basalt teach us that we must dig deep and burn away the dross and dissonance we hold within in order to find the clarity and peace that we week. Their life lesson is that we can't stand in murky water and expert to see the bottom clearly. If we want clarity, peace of mind and peace of heart then we must be willing to enter the process of alchemy, where we first face and then transmute the dissonance in our wholeness. In that process pockets of clarity spring forth, bringing us greater vision and encouragement to align ourselves with this alchemical course. The spirits of Basalt can powerfully facilitate cleansing through intentional movement and spiritual dance. When we undertake movement from a place of inspiration and guidance we access levels of self that normally remain elusive. In so doing we can tap into and release dissonance through this sacred movement. For people that have a difficult time processing dissonance, Basalt steps in and guides us into dances that help us to more masterfully meet this energy with the strength of our soul essence. These spirits offer a very potent medicine for people who are afraid of any type of expression they view as negative, including and especially the expression of anger. Basalt allows us to honor our inner fire, which can often be the catalyst when we experience anger, and to allow that fire its appropriate expression. At the other end of the spectrum Basalt can offer spiritual support to those individuals that have issues with chronic anger, living in a state of " slow burn " where the slightest stimulus can cause an explosion. These stone spirits teach, in cases of chronic anger, that forever living in the fire will destroy us and those around us. We must learn to temper that fire, to quiet its flames and develop discernment around and right relationship to our anger. Though brief and " tip of the iceberg " I hope this is helpful to you in some small way. Guest guest
Fabeku, Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I did google basalt (Victoria - thank you for the link!) but couldn't find a definition. I also checked out Peggy's section on lava (Samantha- thank you for the suggestion!) but wondered if basalt was a specific type of lava with different properties. Fabeku, your definition couldn't have been more appropriate and explains why I was so attracted to it on a recent walk in the woods. I am dealing with some medical issues and I have been praying for something that would help me release what Louise Hay says may be the crux of the illness. I understand there has been a recent discussion on illnesses and their possible cause, but for me, Louise Hay has helped me to think of an angle that I might not have thought of. Especially concerning my self, which is harder to be objective about. So Fabeku and others, how would YOU dance with the basalt? There seems to be many ways to heal with crystals. Would you just carry the basalt on your person...would you hand hold it as much as possible or for a certain time? You are probably going to tell me to meditate with it, which I will, but I am a bit frozen on account of some recent news. Any advice you offer would be appreciated but of course, I know you're not a doctor. I just wanna know what you think ; -) Thank you again, Kim >On 7/13/05 9:28 AM, " " > wrote: > ______________________ > > Message: 2 > Tue, 12 Jul 2005 18:42:27 -0000 > " Fabeku " <fabeku > Re: Basalt > > Kim- > >> > Sorry to ask this question again, but does anyone know the meaning of > basalt? >> > > I'll be glad to offer what I can on these spirits. > > From a physical perspective Basalt is a extrusive igneous rock, which > may include such diverse spirits as Olivine (what we more readily > call Peridot) and various Feldspars (usually of the Plagioclase > tribe).
