Guest guest
In the four cases that I have used these herbs in formulas, all the patients were overweight, between 50-200 lbs. They all had damp accumulation and spleen qi vacuity as well as other issues, and were sick and tired of being sick and tired. Bottom line, they were all motivated. I designed for them an integrated program of lifestyle changes, including dietary, sleep and exercise guidelines. The herbs and weekly treatments were only one part of the total picture. As I tell them, I want to not have them to be dependent upon me, and as self empowered, they are all doing well, feeling good and have kept the weight off. I think that a major key that I apply to my practice, is the talmudic principle , " tafasta meruba lo tafasta " -literally meaning if you grab too much you grab nothing. In other words, if one sets their vision too high, if one skips one too many rungs when climbing a ladder, he will fall. I encourage baby steps and the result are gratifying. Guest guest
Dear all, Losing a few pounds a week is an ideal approach. Congratulation to our success ! Whoever 's done it I am very proud of him/her. However, I never think or expect this is a guarantee that patients will continue losing their weight in a straight 1 - 2 years. But if patients can lose any pound at anytime, the favor is ours. We must be extremely happy and be proud of ourselves about this successfulness. HOw long can they keep it off ? This is a very good question. But my answer will be : It is depending upon you, how long will you keep your brand new car in a brand new condition and keep it away from an accident, scratches, dents or fading colors. This requires hard work from the patients, not from the physicians " the dealers " . We are all susceptible to the environment " heat, temperature, chemical, water, food and air polution, stress, aging ... " If we can only beat this environment, we will not only keep ourselves in good shape, health and become brilliant, but we may live at least for a few centuries. If we can beat a few of it, we may get a few of its satisfaction. The old saying : We will get what we pay for. If we want more , we must pay more for it. Guest guest
Sheela Nair -owner Friday, October 2, 2009 7:57:26 AM archives and Protocol for OBESITY Namaste On trying to access the attachments available in , i am told that i need to contact the moderator to enable the archives. I would be grateful if you could do the same at the earliest. Also, i have been trying to find the protocol for obesity unsuccessfully. Regards, sheela ===================== Dear Sheela, A Loving Atma Namaste! Thank you for your email. The protocol for obesity was given in message #1203. Please find a copy of the message below. MEDICAL INFORMATION: OBESITY / OVERWEIGHT " Obesity is excess fat stored in the body. Since the body cannot store protein or carbohydrates, the excess is converted to fat and stored. One pound of fat represents about 3,500 excess Calories. About 25% of the U.S. population is overweight. But being obese is different from being overweight. An individual is considered obese when weight is 20% (25% in women) or more over the maximum desirable for their height. When the excess weight begins to interfere with vital functions such as breathing, it is considered morbid obesity. Obesity will increase the risk of illness and death due to diabetes, stroke, coronary artery disease, and kidney and gallbladder disorders. The more overweight, the higher the risk becomes. Obesity has been implicated in increased incidence of some types of cancer. It is thought that genetic factors play a part in the development of obesity; children of obese parents are 10 times more likely to be obese than children with parents of normal weight. Common causes eating more food than the body can use inadequate physical activity or exercise. To help prevent an increase in weight: avoid excess alcohol consumption, stress, depression, boredom, frustration, and poor eating habits. Avoid a sedentary lifestyle. Exercise daily, or at least 3 times a week. Increase the current level of activity. Eat less food that is high in fat and sugar. Avoid drugs that claim to aid in weight loss. For additional help in losing weight, join a support group. Many people find it easier to follow a reduction diet and exercise program if they join a group of people with similar problems. Set realistic goals for weight reduction. A loss of 1 to 2.5 pounds a week may seem slow, but 1 pound of fat lost a week equals 52 pounds in a year.
