The author is a Medical Doctor (M.D.) and he tries to explain how yeast works from the perspective of a yeast cell. As you can see, as long as the cycle continues with the use of antibiotics, how can one finally overcome the problem? This is a very serious issue to consider. Larry --------------------------- APPENDIX 2 AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YEAST CELL " ...The greatest breakthrough of my career came with the discovery of the " miracle drug " Penicillin in 1940, the first member of the Antibiotic family. Thanks to modern scientific medicine, the Antibiotic family grew rapidly. Every year, several new family members joined the dynasty: Tetracycline, Sulfamide, and Vancomycin. " Few people appreciate what antibiotics have done for me. They attacked those frontier guards of the colonic plantation, Lactobacilli, bifido bacteria and Bulgaricus (probiotics). These meddling busy bodies kept on saying to me, " Don't grow so fast, there is a place for everyone here in the colon. " Now, that was holding a wet blanket on one guy's fast growing ambitions-- namely mine, and it didn't please me one bit. So I made a deal with the Viruses: " Attack humans, have a ball and display all your little tricks. " It worked wonderfully. Viruses invaded, causing sore throats, little coughs, running noses--and people demanded the Antibiotic dynasty to come to the rescue. Of course, the Antibiotics--while attacking bacteria--had great respect for my partner Viruses and in no way harmed them. On the other hand, it wiped out those spoil-sport bacteria and allowed me to grow. " I must admit, I have learned some tricks from my other friends too, even Bacteria, who told me once: " Produce green mucus, and Antibiotic will be summoned, no questions asked! " I still thank Bacteria for that hint. Or, " Go and hide in the sinuses, and cause some congestion. " It is amazing how this works, everytime. You know how beneficial this is for Bacteria? Antibiotic loses its potency by trying to attack Viruses and when finally, the Bacteria do show up, they are resistent to Antibiotic and can freely roam throughout the body. One favor begets another! " I must tell you, too, that we yeast cells are a very close knit family. Even when we die, we find ways to support each other. Our dead bodies are called " Toxins. " Our funerals are beautiful and lengthy. We try to stay as long as possible in the human body after our own deaths (we recognize a good thing when we have it!) and find it exciting to be able to choose from so many exits on our way out to life after death. Can you imagine: we can choose between nose, mouth, eyes, skin, anus and vagina. But our favorite is the bladder. Our corpses are able to produce a burning, irritating sensation in the bladder. Guess who gets the blame? Bacteria. They don't mind, that's what good friends are for. " Of couse, as soon as Bacteria are expected as the culprits, that other old friend Antibiotic appears on the scene, and we are in business again. Life (and even death) can be sweet. " From pages 213-214 of the following book: " Full of Life - How to Achieve and Maintain Peak Immunity " , by Luc De Schepper, M.D., Ph.D., Lic.Ac., D.I. Hom., C. Hom., 1991 Another good book by the same author is called: " Candida " written in 1990. So, Antibiotics yield more fungus and the cycle continues. ------------------------
Guest guest
Try D-Mannose for bladder infections. Anyone on anti-biotics MUST take a good combination of probiotics to counteract the deleterious effects on intestinal and digestive health. http://www.healingtherapies.info/D-Mannose.htm http://www.nutri-health.com/products/acidophilus/FAQ.html Harry - " jules ferris " <JFerris Friday, June 11, 2004 2:15 AM Re: Bladder Infection > I have a similar problem, chronic low grade infection and would be > interested in any solutions too. > > Julie > > >Hello- > > > >I was talking to my daughter's teacher today about alternative > >medicine. Guest guest
Thanks, Larry. I had recently been reading up on Candida and last night, I had a thought that the 2 were connected. Guest guest
Another interesting natural remedy for bladder infections, is the common weed: plantain, that grows between the cracks in the sidewalk, or on gravelly soil in unexpected places. I was treated with this herb, by a doctor of Chinese Medicine, and found it effective. Strange, how something we step on can be so useful. Guest guest
i was waiting to see if anyone else would respond with the suggestion i have heard because i cannot remember the name but it is some formula that contains xylitol (it begins with an "m") that is supposed to be good for urinary tract infections - that is along the same lines, right? maybe someone else can jog my memory and add their own advice regarding this. - exodia yugi herbal remedies Monday, April 18, 2005 10:42 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - bladder infection Hi Samantha, I know i am new but Cranberries are very good for bladder infections. i however cannot handle the taste so i mix the juice with apples or citrus fruit. Guest guest
__________________ Hi Samantha, If you prefer a herbal remedy: The very first thing to do is to take a high enema of catnip tea, as catnip is very soothing. Make the catnip into tea, using a quart of water. Take the enema as hot as can be borne, 105 degrees to 110 degrees F. Then follow with some laxative herbs: one heaping teaspoon of senna, one heaping teaspoon of buckthorn bark, one heaping teaspoon of spearmint, one heaping teaspoon of cubeb berries, & one heaping teaspoon of marshmallow herb Dissolve all in a quart of boiling water. Seep for twenty minutes, After it has settled, pour the tea off carefully. Drink one to four cups per day, more or less, to suit your case, but keep the bowels loose. If this remedy is too dramatic...you may want to take the laxative herbs only or apply the same remedy with the herb, Red Sage..and make a tea of it with the entire dried herb. ["Red Sage is a wonderful remedy for many diseases. It could almost be called a "cure all." It might be said that you never go amiss when you take red sage.] (...found this info in Jethro Kloss' "BACK to EDEN.") ....Be blessed in knowledge...JOYinthemorning... ___________________ Samantha <sashelnutt wrote: whats good for a bladder infection???SamanthaFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
If you have access to a health food or herb store, get a tincture of Uva Ursi - or Uva Ursi with Cornsilk. Do a few droppersful every 15 minutes until you get relief. Keep it up hourly for a day then gradually taper off. You may need to use the whole bottle, but it really is a godsend. Drinking regular cranberry juice makes matters worse with the sugar, it is not for a crisis but is good over time to prevent attacks - just vitamin C in high doses is better. You can get cranberry capsules, or cornsilk in capsules is soothing. Buchu is a fine herb preventively. Bach flower essences or homeopathy can definitely help, because essentially you are " pissed off " and that is the real cause. I have been there, I do know!
