Guest guest
Dear Marilette, I recently just had surgery on an 80% torn meniscus. The doctors said that the meniscus wouldn't heal if it didn't receive the proper blood supply. My knee is also very swollen. So I was wondering if you had a protocol in order to help the blood flow get to my knee and to make the swelling go away. I would be very greatful for your information. Many Thanks, Bob ======================================== Dear Bob, Namaste. Thank you for your email. Medical Background; Medically speaking, the " cartilage " is actually known as the meniscus. The meniscus is a C-shaped piece of fibrocartilage which is located at the peripheral aspect of the joint. The majority of the meniscus has no blood supply. For that reason, when damaged, the meniscus is unable to undergo the normal healing process that occurs in most of the rest of the body. In addition, with age, the meniscus begins to deteriorate, often developing degenerative tears. Typically, when the meniscus is damaged, the torn piece begins to move in an abnormal fashion inside the joint. Because the space between the bones of the joint is very small, as the abnormally mobile piece of meniscal tissue (meniscal fragment) moves, it may become caught between the bones of the joint (femur and tibia). When this happens, the knee becomes painful, swollen, and difficult to move. The meniscus has several functions: Stability - As secondary stabilizers, the intact meniscii interact with the stabilizing function of the ligaments and are most effective when the surrounding ligaments are intact. Lubrication and nutrition - The meniscii act as spacers between the femur and the tibia. By doing so, they prevent friction between these two bones and allow for the diffusion of the normal joint fluid and its nutrients into the tissue which covers the end of the bone. This tissue is known as articular cartilage. Maintenance of the integrity of the articular cartilage is critical to preventing the development of post-traumatic or degenerative arthritis. Shock absorption - The biconcave C-shaped pieces of tissue known as meniscii (cartilage in non-medical terms) lower the stress applied to the articular cartilage, and thereby have a role in preventing the development of degenerative arthritis. Occasionally, it is possible to repair a torn meniscus. While this may be done arthroscopically, because of the slow healing process of the meniscus, the recovery time is longer then simply removing the torn piece of meniscus (meniscectomy). Unfortunately, as a person gets older, the possibility of the tear being repairable greatly decreases. Do pranic breathing for 12 cycles before start of treatment. Continue during Pranic Healing. 3. General sweeping. 4. Localized thorough sweeping on the affected knee and the knee minor chakra alternately with LWG and LWO. To bring down swelling: Energize the affected part with LWG, LWB then ordinary LWV. Repeat step 4 every 15 minutes, if necessary, for as long as needed. To faciliate regeneration of operated torn tendon: 5. Energize the affected part with LWB for soothing and localizing effect. 6. Energize the affected part with LWO-R then with LWO-Y. 7. Localized thorough sweeping on the basic chakra and navel chakra. Energize them with LWR. 8. Localized thorough sweeping on the front and back solar plexus chakra. Energize them with W. 9. Stabilize and release projected pranic energy. 10. Repeat entire treatment 3 times per week. 11. On a daily basis, you may lay your hands over the affected knee simultaneously doing Pranic Breathing continuously for 5 minutes per session. This may be done for as many sessions as you are able to manage in a day. 12. Regular proper practice of the Meditation on Twin Hearts to raise your energy level thereby facilitate proper healing.
