Guest guest
Hello Marilette, I have completed level 1 and have been reading Master Co's " Your Hands Can Heal You " . Thank you for your help. Blessings, Giselle ====================================================== Dear Giselle, Namaste. Thank you for the additional information. Medical Background: Nail biting is a common habit. Although unsanitary, it typically causes no long-term nail problems. Most nail biting is merely a bad habit. But constant, severe nail biting can be a sign of anxiety or compulsive behavior. In such cases, the person may consider consulting a doctor or a mental health professional for further evaluation. Treatment may include behavioral therapy to help the person stop biting his/her nails. Finger nails are formed near where the U-shaped cuticles begin. As long as nail biting doesn't damage this part of the nails (nail bed), the nails will continue to grow even if they're bitten off on a regular basis. Nail biting can worsen some existing conditions of the nail bed, such as: -Infection of the skin around the nail (paronychia) -Warts around the nail bed Source - Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research (MFMER).
