Guest guest
Dear Liz, Namaste. Thank you for your email. Medical Background: Lumbar Radiculopathy is also known as Sciatica. A typical symptom of this condition is unexpected intense pain that starts in the lower back or hip continues down the buttocks all the way to the knee and perhaps to the toes. This happens mostly upon sitting down. Sometimes the pain may feel like pins and needles, numbness, weakness or burning sensation in those same area(s). In most cases, if the person is between the ages of 30 to 50, this condition is just the natural wear and tear on the disk . The slipped or herniated disk presses on the sciatica nerve. In most cases the Lumbar five (L5) or Sectrum one (S1) nerve root tells the body that there is irritation or pressure on the spine, therefore pain, due to inflammation, is felt. The good thing about Sciatica is that, in almost all cases, it will get better over time without surgical intervention. Avoid activities that would put a strain on the back. In more severe cases, anti-inflammatory, or an epidural injection and pain medication ( such as ibuprofen or aspirins) might be prescribed. The use of ice or heat packs might calm down the nerve pain. Physical therapy and stretching will also help in the treatment. In extraordinary cases a laminotomy surgery might be needed to relieve the pain. In this procedure the surgeon will remove the part of the back bone or disk material which is pressing on the nerve or nerves. Could you kindly provide one? Would you also include a protocol for regeneration of the nerve also. Thank you and many blessings, Liz Pranic Healing is not intended to replace orthodox medicine, but rather to complement it.
