If someone has a complaint and depending upon what it is, how chronic, how severe the pain is, etc., then it is a good idea if the Chiropractor is not working " blind " . They may know what they are doing by touch, but they can't alwyas know everything - such as in a deteriorating disc. So you have to use your own judgement and knowledge about your body to assist you there. They should however ask for any existing x-rays and keep them to an absolute minimum. As you say, most problems may be able to be adjusted within 2-3 sessions. But, depending upon the body's general condition, how long the spine (or whatever) has been out of adjustment, it may require several weeks of adjustment before it will begin to " stay " where it is adjusted to. I agree that regular appointments that seem never ending are most likely a sign that doctor is trying to garner a steady income. Also many Chiropractors are in the business of supplements and nutrition. This can be okay if you are in a medical crisis and are generally clueless about health issues. But just be careful you don't get dependent on this because some of them rely heavily on the supplments and forget about the value of food and natural herbs. Guest guest
The same chiropractor that treated me for my scoliosis saw me about a damaged knee. I had been running in the yard and one foot got caught in a gopher hole and my knee got wrenched really good. My mom took me to a regular doc because she tried everything to get the swelling to go down and it wouldn't. The doctor, of course, prescribed arthritis drugs. My mom just said "is he crazy? You're 12!" and brought me to the chiropractor who "POP!" adjusted my knee. In days I was out running around and the swelling went away soon after. Candace - Brady and Marisa herbal remedies Thursday, January 20, 2005 5:39 PM RE: Herbal Remedies - scoliosis There are many quack chiropractors out there- but a good chiropractor is worth their weight in gold! I have one that I trust my children with fully. She has worked MIRACLES in my family. My daughter was THE MOST COLICKY baby I had ever seen. People that thought that they had had high needs babies gave me pitiful glances because she was worse. I took her to my chiropractor who VERY GENTLY massaged her bone plates in her skull and palette in order to put them back into proper alignment and when I walked out I had the happiest baby on the block. People ALWAYS say to me, "Is she always this happy?" because she is always smiling and laughing and talking and charming now. My son fell off a couch backwards and knocked his head and misaligned his hips... prior to this, he had been taking steps but after that refused to take steps. I took him in and 2 days later he was walking and hardly ever falling down. I personally went to a good chiro as a child and unless I went every 6 months the ped would say I had scoliosis- I have a weakness on one side due to falling out of a tree. As long as I went every 6 months for a GENTLY adjustment, I had a straight back. Also, my chiropractor noticed that my cheekbone was still out of alignment from when I fell out of the tree- she gently adjusted this and I no longer have migraines. I went to her once a month during my pregnancy with my daughter and if I hadn't, I would have been bed ridden because of the relaxin issues I have. By keeping my joints aligned, I was able to strengthen the muscles to prevent the ligaments from literally giving out on me. Marisa Domestic Engineer and Mother of 2 Elijah Marin Yikes! Guest guest
Hello Elizabeth, I was 30 years old when I was diagnosed with Scoliosis. I think my bones were " closed " . Let me in turn " stress " that what I said in my original post was that Angel's friend would need to take full responsibility for the treatment of their diagnosis. It will take more than exercise and diet and I DID NOT infer otherwise! I also stated that this person should seek the counsel of a Naturopath, Chiropractor and Massage Therapist. I then continued to say that a holistic health plan should be devised by these health care providers. Scoliosis is a debilitating condition that causes much pain and suffering to individuals so afflicted. It IS A REVERSIBLE CONDITION. I must ask that you, in the future, do not mis-quote or mis-represent information I am providing in my posts regarding the welfare of others. You simplified my original post and therefore revoked it's intent. I hope I have clarified my intent for all of those involved. PS....I ran my first mile last summer after the MEDICOS told me I wouldn't be able to walk without surgery and lifelong drug treatment...still walking the walk Warm regards, Lori herbal remedies , Elizabeth <bluecatmj> wrote: > Angel, how old is your friend? Guest guest
As an alternative to a chiropractor (which is always a hotly debated profession) I would recommend a somatic movement therapist or a Feldenkrais specialist. I honestly don't know if they work with scoliosis patients, but they often see remarkable recoveries from people who can barely walk because the patient is completely crippled, warped, hunched over by what a doctor has labeled arthritis. These patients are told they can't get better and will have to live with pain the rest of their lives and then have a complete turnaround. I read a book called " Somatics " , and when my grandmother's was complaining about extreme pain in her hip, I found a Somatic movement therapist for her, and she was thrilled with the results. She had already had chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture, but nothing worked like this. The therapist teach you complete body awareness through some basic exercises custom designed based on his/her observations of the way you move. It's hard to imagine that this would be very effective until you see the results. Guest guest
Dear Juergen, Namaste. Thank you for your email. Pranic Healing: 1. Invoke and scan before, during and after treatment. 2. Instruct the patient to do the simple required exercises before the meditation; with eyes closed, listen to the Meditation on Twin Hearts during the treatment. 3. General sweeping twice. 4. Localized thorough sweeping on the front and back solar plexus chakra and the liver. 5. Energize the solar plexus chakra with LWG , LWB and ordinary LWV. Apply more localized thorough sweeping on the solar plexus. 6. Localized thorough sweeping on the spine alternately with LWG and LWO. Do not apply O on the head, near it or anywhere higher than the neck. 7. Localized thorough sweeping on the affected part alternately with LWG and LWO. Energize it with LWR. Apply more localized sweeping on the affected part. 8. Localized thorough sweeping on the basic chakra. Energize it with LWR, simultaneously visualize the energy making the spine straight. 9. Stabilize and release projected pranic energy. 10. Repeat treatment three times per week. Source: Advanced Pranic Healing by Master Choa Kok Sui. Supplementary: For patient a. Regular proper practice of the MTH including the physical exercises before and after the meditation. b. Avoid all forms of negative thoughts, emotions, activities, environment and unnecessary stress. c. Do pranic abdominal pranic breathing for 5 minutes, three times per day everyday to relieve stress. d. Play the OM cd very softly and continuously in the house and in the room where the patient stays most of the time. This is done for cleansing and promoting a healing environment.
