Dear Liba,

Namaste.

Thank you for your email.

Acid test on bone disease

By Jerome Burne

Excess acid in the body may be linked to the rise in

osteoporosis in the west

COULD keeping your bones healthy be as simple as

taking a few antacid pills a day? It sounds absurd —

after all, bone loss in post-menopausal women is due

to a drop in oestrogen, isn’t it?

In fact, what exactly starts the process of bone loss

remains unclear. And now that HRT is no longer the

front-line treatment for osteoporosis, the question is

back on the agenda.

The notion that acid might be eating away at our bones

makes scientific sense. Dr Tim Arnett, reader in

mineralised tissue biology at University College

London, who has put forward this theory, says:

“Our bodies work best if our cells are not exposed to

an acidic environment. Even a slight shift in the acid

direction prompts the body to neutralise the blood by

mining the bones for more alkaline substances such as

calcium.”

The benefit of taking calcium supplements may not be

to build bones, but to stop them being broken down.

A link between excess acid and bone strength was first

spotted in the 1920s, when patients with kidney

problems, which raised acid levels, developed fragile

bones. When they were given bicarbonate of soda to

calm their excessively acid stomachs, their bones also

became sturdier.

Researchers at the University of California, Los

Angeles, have been following up on the

bicarbonate/bone-strengthening link, suggesting that

the rise of osteoporosis in the West could be due to

our acid-producing diet, based on animal fats, wheat

and cheese.

The “silent thief” stealing your bones may come in the

form of a salami pizza.

Surprisingly, fruit leaves a residue of alkali in the

body after metabolism, as do vegetables, whereas

animal proteins and wheat raise acid levels.

Hard cheese, generally regarded as a good source of

calcium, is particularly acid-producing. But by

concentrating on diet, Arnett believes that the

Californian researchers may be missing the wider

picture. “Our bodies become slightly more acidic as we

age because our kidneys become less efficient at

excreting acid in the urine.”

" ....In fact bone health appears to be dependent on

good blood flow.

“When the flow is poor, blocked by infection,

inflammation or diseased blood vessels, then there is

a shift in the acid direction,” Arnett says.

“Maybe an important part of oestrogen’s protective

effect on bones is a spin-off from its effect of

promoting good circulation.”

So far, the practical implication of this work has

been to reinforce familiar advice about healthy

eating, with maybe a top-up of calcium or bicarbonate,

..... Arnett suggests that in future, with further

proper research, it may be that patients will also be

advised to include particular (aluminium-free)

antacids as part of their bone-protecting regimen.

Already drugs called bisphosphonates treat

osteoporosis by reducing the life span of the

bone-destroying cells known as osteoclasts. “Research

has been going on for years to find a hormone or

enzyme that makes osteoclasts more active, with the

aim of blocking it,” Arnett says. “But now it seems

that the primary signal to get osteoclasts going is a

rise in acid levels.”

Researchers at Novartis in Switzerland reported that

they had found acid receptors on bone cells.

If their findings hold up, and they find a way to

block those receptors, expect to hear a lot more about

the acid link with osteoporosis.

So far, the practical implication of this work has

been to reinforce the familiar advice about healthy

eating, with maybe a top-up of antacids or

bicarbonate.

Pranic Healing:

1. Invoke and scan before during and after treatment.

2. General sweeping twice.

3. Localzied thorough sweeping on the front and back

sola rplexus chakra.

4. Energize the solar plexus with a little of LWB

then with more of LWG and LWO.

OR Energize the solar plexus chakra with LWG, then

with LWO. This is more powerful but requires greater

skill. If improperly applied, this may cause loos

bowel movement an dother adverse effects especialy for

patients with weakened hearts.

5. If the patient experiences pain in any part of the

body or radical reaction, immediately aplly loaclized

sweeping on the affected area untile there is complete

relief.

6. Localized sweeping on the front, back and sides of

the lungs.

7. Energize the lungs through the back of the lungs

with LWG then with LWO for 15 minutes. Point your

fingers away from the patient's head when energizing

with orange.

Wait for about 10 minutes.

Repeat steps 6 and 7.

8. If the patient is depleted, energize the lungs

with with LWR.

9. Stabilize by " coating " the back of the lungs with

LWB.

10. Localized thorough sweeping on the spleen, liver

and both kidneys. Energize with white.

11. If the patient experiences radical reaction or

pain in certain parts of the body, apply localized

sweeping immeditately until there is complete relief.

12. Localized thorough sweeping on the meng mein

chakra.

13. Localized thorough sweeping on the navel chakra,

basic chakra, both arms and legs with emphaisis on

their minor chakras. Energize them with LWR.

14. Localized thorough sweeping on the front and back

heart chakra. Energize the heart through the back

heart chakra with LWG and more of ordinary LWV.

15. Localized thorough sweeping on the throat, ajna,

forehead, crown and back head chakras. Energize them

with LWG and then with more of ordinary LWV.

16. Stabilize and release projected pranic energy.

17. Repeat treatment three times per week.

18. It is understood that the patient will modify

his/her diet to one that does not promote high acidity

levels in the blood.

Supplemetntary :

1. Regular proper practice of the Meditation on Twin

Hearts.

2. Eat more fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and take

proper amounts of fresh water daily.

3. Limit intake of food with animal fat, wheat and

cheese.

4. Regular simple very low impact physical exercise.

Love,

Marilette
