Dear Olive,

Namaste.

Thank you for your email.

Your friend and her unborn child are blessed to have

you and pranic healing in their life.

Medical Background:

According to a study published in the latest edition

of the British Medical Journal, women are more

inclined to be depressed during pregnancy than after

delivery. Doctors have long been aware that 10% of

women suffer from postpartum depression, but

researchers from England's University of Bristol found

that higher numbers of women experience depression

during pregnancy, with the figures peaking around the

32nd week of gestation, BBC News reports. Researchers

interviewed more than 9,000 women who were due to give

birth between April 1, 1991, and Dec. 31, 1992, at 18

weeks and 32 weeks of pregnancy and eight weeks and

eight months post-delivery. At 18 weeks, 11.8% of

women were deemed to be experiencing " probable

depression, " and that number climbed to 13.5% at 32

weeks. Eight weeks postpartum, 9.1% were experiencing

symptoms of depression, falling to 8.1% at eight

months after birth (BBC News, 8/2). The " severity and

nature " of the women's symptoms did not vary before

and after delivery (Agence France-Presse, 8/3).

Lead investigator Jonathan Evans said, " Offering

treatment [for depression] may be important both for

the mother and the future well-being of the child and

family " because prenatal depression has been linked

with low adherence to prenatal care, low birthweight

and premature birth (Frith, London Independent, 8/3).

He added that the " consequences of prenatal depression

are not well understood " and called for more research

on the effects of depression on women and their

children. Although the team recommended screening and

treatment during pregnancy, they held reservations

about the " widespread use " of antidepressant drugs

(BBC News, 8/2).

The study's findings contradict the popular belief

that pregnancy " could actually protect against

depression " (London Independent, 8/3). The findings

" will be a surprise to many " because most associate

pregnancy with a " time of emotional well-being, " Dr.

Ruta Nonacs of Massachusetts General Hospital said (

AP/Bergen Record, 8/3). Dr. Mary Nolan, an antenatal

care expert with the British National Childbirth

Trust, added, " It may be that it's in a way normal to

have a low trough in pregnancy. It's the most enormous

life-changing event imaginable. Thirty-two weeks is

when the reality of it is hitting home in a

particularly vivid way " (BBC News. 8/2). Many people,

including doctors, are more attuned to look for

postpartum depression, which can lead to neglect of

the infant and family, and, in extreme cases, suicide.

However, according to Evans, postpartum depression as

a " specific syndrome " is actually a " popular myth. " He

stated, " Clearly, people do get depressed postnatally.

But it has entered public subconsciousness as a sort

of condition somehow separate from the rest of

depression, and what we are saying is that it is

depression like depression at any other time, and it

occurs no more frequently than at any other time in a

woman's life " (AP/Bergen Record, 8/3). August 2001.

Pranic Healing:

1. Invoke and scan before, during and after

treatment.

2. Instruct the patient to do abdominal pranic

breathing ( 6-3-6-3) for a few cycles before the

start of healing treatment. Continue pranic breathing

during healing.

2. Smile. Touch your heart with the pads of the

fingers of your non-healing hand. Maintain this

posture during treatment to soften the energy.

Gently apply general sweeping.

3. Localized thorough sweeping on the front and back

heart chakra with LV or EV. Energize through the back

heart chakra with LV or EV.

Wait for a few of minutes.

Energize the heart through the back heart chakra with

Pink.

Rescan the heart chakra.

4. Localized thorough sweeping on the front and back

solar plexus chakra and the liver with LV or EV.

Energize the solar plexus with LV or EV.

5. Localized thorough sweeping on the ajna, crown,

and throat chakra with LV or EV. While energizing the

ajna chakra, gently but firmly instruct the ajna to

harmonize the other chakras and organs.

6. Localized thorough sweeping on the basic chakra,

minor chakras of the hands and soles of the feet.

Energize them with LR.

7. Localized gentle sweeping on the meng mein chakra,

navel chakra and spleen chakra. Lightly energize the

navel chakra with White.

DO NOT energize the spleen nor meng mein chakra.

8. Create a positive image of the patient and her

unborn child in your mind: they are both bright,

happy, healthy and safe.

9. Stabilize and release projected energy.

10. Repeat treatment 3 times per week until required.

Recommend for the patient:

1. Daily light physical exercise preferably outdoors

and fresh air.

2. Daily salt water bath.

3. Daily blessings for yourself, the unborn child

your partner, family, friends, community, projects and

Mother Earth.

2. Twelve (12) cycles of abdominal pranic breathing

several times each day during waking hours.

3. Balanced nutritious diet which includes plenty of

fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, ample amount of fresh

water. Avoid alcohol, greasy or fried food,

artificial food enhancers, artificial flavors and

colors. Limit intake of salt and refined sugar. No

smoking.

4. Make a list of positive self-affirmations. Smile

and say the self-affirmations upon waking and before

bedtime each day. Visualize yourself and your unborn

child happy and healthy while saying the self

affirmations. Make this a habit.

5. Engage in an enjoyable productive hobby or do

service for the good of others.

6. Avoid negative thoughts, emotions, activities and

Hi Olive

I have experienced the unborn child bringing in emotions of their own

while being in their energy level. And sometimes mom interprets this

as her own emotions. Ask the friend of yours to touch her heart and

ask whether this emotion is hers or her child's and once she realizes

she is there to help the child there is tremondous relief on mom's

end. I have experienced this with my own pregnancy. As Marilette says

doing healing and just doing a love cushion -ie - auric shield with

love and imaging sitting inside the love energy with the unborn child

helps. Taking Fish oil vitamins especially DHA daily helps if they

are vegetarian then Primrose oil supplies the Omega 3 fatty acids and

DHA for the moods.
