Guest guest
I am writing to ask for a treatment for one person with two kinds of trigeminal neuralgia. One is post-herpetic trigeminal neuralgia in the upper right branch of the trigeminal nerve which has damaged the nerve in the forehead and the eye following shingles; the other is atypical Tic Douloureux in the lower left jaw which was unsuccessfully surgically treated with a trigeminal rhizotomy to sever the nerve; this appears to have created a secondary problem of anesthesia dolorosa. Both these conditions are long-standing, the former since 1980, the latter since 1987. Extensive meds have been tried to assist with controlling the pain and they too have created problems. Use of meds is ongoing. Carbamazepine (Tegretol) does not work for this person. With thanks.
