From a local WAP group:

Whole Foods has made a decision to pull all raw milk from its shelves

nationwide. The reason given is the high cost of liability insurance in the

wake of law suits. This decision is effective the evening of Friday March

12th. Until further notice, Claravale Farm milk will not be available

through Whole Foods markets. This decision has nothing whatsoever to do

with the quality or safety of Claravale Farm milk. Claravale Farm will

continue to produce milk and it will be available through a number of

independent grocery stores, as well as buying groups.

They did it here some months ago but surprisingly, several grocery stores (not chain stores) just started to sell the raw milk which is marked for pet consumption only. Sales of raw milk for people is illegal in Florida.

Not too many places here sell Claravale. OP is easier to find, but Claravale is Jersey milk, and OP isn't. SIGH.

Yep, it's a warped world we live in. The even sadder part is that raw milk is not legal in all states. I live in SC and it's legal here, but often wonder when the day is going to come that it's not legal. Now here we have to go to the farm to get it. No Whole Foods around here, but I have never seen raw milk in any of the health food stores around here even though it is legal.......my guess is they don't want the liability here either.Kelly--- On Sat, 3/13/10, cyndikrall <cyndikrall wrote:cyndikrall <cyndikrall[RFSL] Heartbrokenrealfoodsimplelife Date: Saturday, March 13, 2010, 11:49 AM

We buy our raw milk from a local farmer direct. I love it. It is

extremely creamy. My wife also makes fresh butter with it. Now

anytime I do drink store bought milk it tastes watery.

They will probably do the same thing they did here-make it so difficult to sell, it will be impossible to get. The farmers aren't safe either. There are regular raids here in CA of the dairies too.

Tomcat! Good to hear from you! I didn't know you were back online! Please tell me all about your adventures this winter with the minimal electricity. How did that work out for you?

The nearest farmer who has a cow share in a couple hours away from me. I just don't drink enough of it to justify spending a whole day drivingaround for it. :-(
