Hmmm...think I'm going to have to try this 2nd shampoo on the list. Sounds easy to make and not so scary like the first one. (Borax sounds too harsh and I'm afraid my dye job will wash out, LOL!) I'd still have to use a commercial cream rinse/conditioner unfortunately...at least until I find something more natural that really works. My hair is long and tangles way too easily; almost impossible to comb through after washing without conditioner.

Anybody know of anything that might work?

A bunch of people on another group I am on use baking soda. I find the baking soda does work, but it's hard to work with since it does not suds up.Kelly--- On Mon, 3/8/10, Celia Browne <lady_celia wrote:Celia Browne <lady_celiaRe: [RFSL] Hair herbs Date: Monday, March 8, 2010, 7:07 AM

For rinsing and detangling??? What the heck...got nothing to lose. I'll give it a try!

Do you know if they mix it with water or anything or just apply directly to wet hair or what? (Somehow I picture clumps of baking soda stuck in my hair, hahahah... )

Thanks, Kelly. <smiles>

Well when I tried it I wet my head first and then put the baking soda on and rubbed it around, then rinsed. You can use vinegar for a rinse. I think some people use a small amount of jojoba oil as a conditioner, but I have no experience personally with this. I mostly use Dr. Bronner's as a shampoo, but I have short hair, and honestly I'd imagine it would be too drying on long hair. The issue we have with my oldest daughter is she has long wavy hair, down to the small of her back. Well she gets the store bought shampoo and conditioner because I really don't know how we would do it otherwise. She only shampoos it once a week, but she conditions it every night in the shower.......she has to to keep it in shape and to get tangles out.......otherwise it's a tangled, frizzy disaster. Oh, the other thing is I've heard of

people using shampoo bars too.......it's like a bar of soap, but shampoo. They can be purchased on-line or at a health food store. I've heard a lot of shampoos and conditioners have some not so nice ingredients in them and can be endoctrine disruptors. So not easy though finding alternative producst that don't cost a small fortune. Yep either just dump it right on already wet hair, or mix it with water in a cup and pour it over your head.  Either way - most people LOVE it but you have to give it about a week or so.  At first its cleaning out the build up from commercial products and then it can get to work.  So that first week or so, many people give up.  But, its my understanding that those who stick with it love it - especially with vinegar as a conditioner.

It won't get stuck.  It practically rinses right out.On Mon, Mar 8, 2010 at 9:30 AM, Celia Browne <lady_celia wrote:

I know the Borax WAS scary, lol. Have you tried ACV mixed with water? I have not tried it, but I've seen it mentioned in several places as a good hair rinse.

I know the Borax WAS scary, lol. Have you tried ACV mixed with water? I have not tried it, but I've seen it mentioned in several places as a good hair rinse.

Hmmm...think I'm going to have to try this 2nd shampoo on the list. Sounds easy to make and not so scary like the first one. (Borax sounds too harsh and I'm afraid my dye job will wash out, LOL!) I'd still have to use a commercial cream rinse/conditioner unfortunately. ..at least until I find something more natural that really works. My hair is long and tangles way too easily; almost impossible to comb through after washing without conditioner.

Anybody know of anything that might work?
