Guest guest
Cathy, How do you process goat's milk so that it tastes the same? I'm interested in goat's milk because I want to start making soaps with it but if I'm ever lucky enough to get some land so I can raise my own it would be nice to be able to drink it too. @>~~Tammy~~<@ --- On Fri, 1/29/10, Cathy & Leonard Cox <cathy wrote: Cathy & Leonard Cox <cathyRE: [RFSL] Raw Milk and Cow Shares Date: Friday, January 29, 2010, 11:51 AM If you leave the babies on the moms and separate at night so you milk in themorning. That is how I do it and I only milk once a day and get 4 gallonsfrom my cow, which is really good! Because they say a jersey will producebetween 3 -5 gallons a day. There is a book called "The Family Cow" andanother one raising the Family Cow and both are really good and lots ofinformation. Goat milk, if processed correctly, will not taste anydifferent than cows. When I had goats I would do the blind taste test foreveryone who came to the farm and almost no one guessed correctly! It wasfun! I had to let the goats go, but do enjoy my Cows! Good luck and let meknow if I can be of any help!Cathy [ ] On Behalf Ofperchie.girlSent: Friday, January 29, 2010 10:13 AM Subject: [RFSL] Raw Milk and Cow SharesI too am a single person who doesnt consume much milk With the exception ofCream for my coffee. I have the land. But you need to milk cows twice a day. Even if you get a mini which is whatI was considering. I am not a fan of goat milk but I could go there if Iraised my own. Guest guest
The key is chilling it cold as soon as possible. I try to get it to 40 degrees within 30 min. I use Stainless Steel buckets and put them in Ice chests with Iced water to cool them as fast as possible! Also you can make soap with cows milk, that is what I do. Good luck On Behalf Of Phoenix Friday, January 29, 2010 12:05 PM RE: [RFSL] Raw Milk and Cow Shares - Cathy Cathy, How do you process goat's milk so that it tastes the same?
