Dear Cyndi ,

We hope you all had a very successful garden this year! We are busy picking hot peppers, cleaning up our fields and getting ready to plant GARLIC! Everyone here is a big garlic fan...roasted, grilled, pickled or just mixed in with mashed potatoes, we'll eat it any way we can! We know a lot of you love it too, and with the economy in mind, we decided to offer Garlic Bulbils this year, because we can offer them at a fraction of the cost of bulbs. Bulbils are formed at the top of plant called the scape. First season bulbils will produce green garlic which is similar in size to chives but with a great garlic flavor. With good care, you can get medium sized bulbs in just two growing seasons. Some of the advantages of growing with bulbils are:

- Very economical compared to bulbs

- Free from most soil-born diseases

- Increased vitality of parent garlic strain

If you have never tried to grow garlic before, and you've got the patience, this is a very economical way to start.....compared tp $20 a pound for bulbs on the internet. We offer several varieties and each pack comes with complete growing instructions. Check out WWW.TOMATOBOB.COM for availability.

We are also continuing our 25 CENT VEGETABLE SALE with new varieties of heirloom vegetables to offer in October! These packs are full size, 2009 seeds. Keep them in a cool, dark place and they will be perfectly fine to plant next year. The varieties in October's Sale are:

Late Flat Dutch Cabbage

Snowball Cauliflower

Scarlet Nantes Carrot

Georgia Collards

Early White Vienna Kohlrabi

American Flag Leeks

Salad Bowl Red Lettuce

Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce

Tokyo Long White Bunching Onion

Harris Model Parsnip

Oregon Giant Snow Pea

Connecticut Field Pumpkins

Black Russian Sunflower

These seeds can be ordered on our website, WWW.TOMATOBOB.COM

We have had so many kind emails from people thanking us for helping them have an inexpensive, and much needed garden. We also send many seeds free of charge to schools, community gardens, and other worthwhile charities that request them. If you have any non-profit organizations that you think would benefit from receiving seeds, please let us know. We plan on increasing the number of seeds we donate in 2010 with a new seed matching program we will launch in January....every pack of seeds you order will be matched and donated to a selected charity. We have been so blessed, and we feel fortunate to be able to help those who are in need.

We will be offering over 100 new varieties of PEPPERS this year...the mid-October update of the website should include all the new varieties for 2010. Our friends and family are getting a big kick out of trying the new hot varieties to see just how hot they really are. They have made lunchtime exciting at our son's high school! We'll have the results of our taste tests as well as lots of new pepper information in our November newsletter, but to help you use up the sweet peppers you might be picking right now, here is my very best stuffed pepper recipe...I know you'll love them!

Kim's Easy Stuffed Peppers

3 Large or 4 Medium Sweet Peppers

1 Large Yellow Onion, diced

1 Small Zucchini, peeled and diced

1 Can Diced Tomatoes (Or 1 cup diced fresh tomatoes)

2 Tbsp. Butter

1 Tbsp. minced garlic

1 Pkg. Pepperidge Farm Cornbread Stuffing Mix (prepared as directed on package))

In a large sauté pan, melt butter. Add onion and zucchini. Sauté until almost fork tender. While they are cooking, wash the peppers and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and arrange peppers in a 9" x 9" baking dish. Add tomatoes and garlic to onions and zucchini, and continue cooking until warmed through. Turn off heat and add stuffing, mixing well.

nbsp; Fill each pepper full with the stuffing mixture. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees until peppers are tender (about 45 min.). Serves as a side-dish for 6-8 people. Enjoy!

Thank you for your patronage and best of luck with all of your gardening efforts!!
