Guest guest
Hello All Someone in a different group posted this question and I thought someone here might know. Does Celia still have that Retro Recipe group? I'd love to send a link for it to this person. Anyway, here's the question: -- ? to anyone that can help I have a very old (1820 - 1890) cook book. I love some of the recipes in this book. I would like to make some of the breads in this book, but I am having a problem.Example: the recipe states to add a 1/2 block of yeast or a full block of yeast Ok, I can't find the conversion of the block yeast to active yeast package. Would anyone here know the conversion of the two? TIA Terri
Guest guest
Hiya Terri; Found this on google: One package of dry yeast is equal to 1 scant tablespoon dry yeast or 1 cake of compressed fresh yeast. Maybe a block is the same as a cake? Celia doesn't have the Retro Recipes group any more. I unsubbed from it a while back. Good to hear fro you! Cyndi :-) In a message dated 2/22/2009 4:48:37 P.M.
