The Economic Stimulus bill about to be passed by the U.S. Senate is about much more than simply stimulating the economy: It contains sweeping health care changes buried deep in 800 pages of practically unreadable text. Some of the more frightening items include:

 

* A requirement that the full health care records of all Americans be tracked in government databases by 2014.

* $954,000,000 in new spending on vaccines. (Almost a billion dollars in vaccinations!)

* Over half a billion dollars of spending to "carry out chronic disease" and run "genomics programs" ( http://www.naturalnews.com/025608.html).

* Big Government control over the actions of doctors, who will be required to "harmonize" their medical care to meet new government guidelines.

 

What does any of this have to do with an "economic stimulus?" It sounds more like a Big Pharma stimulus...

 

This isn't about right vs. left, Republican vs. Democrat or Big Government vs. small government. This is about the insanity of suddenly unleashing a whole new layer of government bureaucracy regarding health care without any public debate! The world gets stranger by the day, huh?

 

I just want to point out, by the way, that I am on the record being against BOTH the Bush bailout bill and the Obama bailout bill. My position has remained consistent: The creation of trillions of dollars in new money will ultimately rob Americans of the value of their hard-earned dollars, causing far more economic harm than help.

 

And yet I've noticed a lot of people are strangely inconsistent on these bailouts. They were against the Bush bailout, but not they're suddenly in favor of the Obama bailout (or vice-versa). Folks, these two bailouts are essentially the same con packaged behind two different faces (and political parties). This isn't about Republicans vs. Democrats, people, it's about the rich vs. the working class. Both of these bailout bills are essentially about rich people being bailed out by poor people, just so they can keep their million-dollar bonuses.

When I heard about the corruptly hidden Health Care reform in the

Stimulus package I was appalled! I encourage EVERYONE to write their

Senators, Representatives & everyone else to stop this stimulus

package from passing. If our Health Care system is going to be

revised, it needs to be out in the open & debated instead of hidden in

Instead of blindly jumping in and writing letter to stop this stimulus, I would encourage EVERYONE to do their own research on it and find out what it actually says. Almost every article I've read so far today circles back to being based on one editorial. Not article, not researched journalism, but an opinion. And it's the opinion of a rather far-right pundit who has fairly consistently been against any kind of health care reform since at least the Clinton administration, from a person who believes completely in free-market private insurance.

 

For instance, the "tracking health care records in a government database" sounds a little different than saying "setting up a computerized database system to enable doctors and hospitals to share patient records instantly." The National Coordinator of Health Information Technology isn't new (it's been around for years) and it doesn't monitor any individual's treatment. You live in Ohio and have a car wreck in Kansas. Would you like the doctor in the emergency room to know that you have a cardiac history and take blood thinners? Right now, you better hope that you don't hit your head in that car wreck, because that ER doc isn't going to know anything you don't tell him.

 

For an alternative view of the bill, I'd recommend checking out the American College of Physicians viewpoint. (For me, the opinion of doctors has a little more weight than politicians and pundits anyway.)

I'm sorry but writing and other such tactics do not work with our

elected officals. It is clear as day they do not serve the people of

this country and our opinions. The first stimulus package was

unwanted by 80% of Americans, yet it was passed. I don't think most

Americans are in agreement with this stimuls bill either. Is your

senator really working for YOUR best interest or the corporations and

banks? I would say you are last on the list.

 

Furthermore when we talk about blind jumps, is that not what our

congress is currently doing? They have no proof that this stimulus

bill will even work.

My past experiences with companies that hold that many domain names is that they are most interested in the ad revenue and will use any hook to get people to their site. TPI seems to have settled in with any group that by promotes "natural" or unconventional healthcare. That their articles often imply that the government is out to poison us is tiresome. Most often the problem is that the given agency is badly underfunded/understaffed. The cynicism of people like Mr. Adams aids in keeping those agencies underfunded. I'd bet that more than a few of his people would support doing away with many government agencies. May I remind you that in 1900 the average American male only lived to age 40? Now the average life expectancy is closer to 80. For all their faults, our government agencies must be doing something right.

Hello Glen, and welcome to the list! Thankyou for the introduction.

 

My purposein forwarding the emails from Mike is to provide a different

point of view than one is getting from our government, who only feeds

us one pointof view-what they would like us to believe. We are all

guilty of standing idly by for far too long while the people WE elect

only represent themselves and each other, not us. I have no idea how

Natural News runs its business, so I can't comment on any affiliations

or business practices. But I highly doubt his goalis to make us simply

give up and abandon any civic responsibilities; on the contrary, I

think he is doing his best to give us all a wake up call. But to imply

that we should put up with the self-serving, corrupt government

agencies because we are living longer is gross criminal negligenceon

our part. We may be living longer, but we are also dying faster.

Profits and margins drive our economy, not any altruism or concern for

the public health and well being. Just my humble opinion.

 

You sound diappointed that this group is not what you expected. We are

happy to discuss any topic you bring forth, but if everyone wants to

sit back and be entertained and educated without participating, well

then, noone is going to learn too much, and you'll be forced to read

what I send to the list. My goal is to build up a database of

information on health, nutrition and lifes
