Guest guest
I've done it again. I just bought another product (darn after holiday sales). I need to STOP. I just bought a FoodSaver V2860 (I paid $50.60 with tax and shipping). I MUST STOP. How do you all resist the urge to purchase things? Especially after the holidays when everything is on sale? Guest guest
Not easy, but the best way is for me to just avoid the stores/websites altogether. Unless I need something specific, it's just too easy to fall into the trap of "just looking" which of course always leads to buying something. I've given up buying things just because it's on sale and I might need it some day. I know it's a source of pride for a lot of people to seek out these after Christmas sales, but how much of the stuff they buy do they actually need? The lure of thinking I'm "missing out" on Really Good Deals is hard to resist, lol. So I just stay away. And I hate crowds enough to be able to talk myself out of it. If I need something specific, then I'll search out the best deal for it. And since it's so easy to be tempted online, sometimes I just allow myself to "shop" and then walk away from the computer to think about it for another day or two. It's rally about retraining your mind to assess what you "need" versus what you "want." 9 times out of 10, it's something I can do without. Cyndi In a message dated 12/26/2008 5:04:50 P.M. Guest guest
When one of us wants to buy something we must justify it to the other why we need the item and we must also be willing to get rid of something that we already have. The item we are about to get must also have a spot in the house or in the work shed. Guest guest
I figure if it is something I really need, a week or a month later I'll have had time to think about it and decide if I still "need" it or not. That's my deciding strategy these days, lol. Cyndi In a message dated 12/27/2008 9:58:27 A.M. Pacific Standard Time, torrieka123 writes: I was doing so good too. Just avoided the stores. I had to buy a replacment faucet head for our sink and even avoided the tempting 75% off Xmas stuff at Lowes (not to mention the loads of clearance racks all over the store, lol).I like the idea of walking away. I think thats what I will do from now on. Just walk away. , cyndikrall wrote:>> Not easy, but the best way is for me to just avoid the stores/websites > altogether. Guest guest
Maybe thats part of the problem. I don't have anyone else to justify it to, lol. But I do like the idea of getting rid of something else. I have cleaned out our home, and am going through the second sweep. Its amazing how many " things " we accumulate. , " The Oklahoma Tomcat " <jonesfamilyhomestead wrote: > > When one of us wants to buy something we must justify it to the other why we need the item and we must also be willing to get rid of something that we already have.
