Not a penguin with those legs, but I can see why you'd think so. I have no idea what it is. Barbara, do you know?Cyndi

I have NO clue what type of bird this is and have not been able to find it on any of the FL bird websites. Therefore, I have deemed it a new species called the Terri Penguin Bird because it reminds me of a penguin the way its back is black and belly is white and how it stands upright, like a penguin. Difference being that these actually fly and I've yet to see one swim, though this one is enjoying a temporary "nest" floating on the creek made of branches from overhanging bushes/trees. I'm sorry, I deleted the post with the picture but I thought it was some kind of heron, don't know what species.

We have Great Blue Herons - HOLY TALL BATMAN, they're easily 3 feet i think - I like them because they're a beautiful dusty blue color, but also b/c they have a large crest of feathers on the tops of their heads that make them look very regal imo

We also get Litte Green Herons which are about the same size as this "penguin" guy, but they have BRIGHT yellow legs and they talk very loudly! It amazes me that such a loud noice can come from such a little bird!

I'll have to see if we have pics of them somewhere, they weren't in the folder I was sending from, but I'd think we must have some....

It looks like a night heron-not sure why they're called night herons,

they seem to be out in the daytime as much as any other heron.
