Alligator Snapping Turtle

Wow! What a beauty! Too bad the eggs didn't make it. I see it's on the endangered list. I wonder if any wildlife organizations would want to collect the eggs for hatching? Great pics, Terri, thanks! I'm so envious you can see these wonderful critters. :-)

Unfortunately I don't think they hatched though. :( Apparently the lizards tend

to dig up the eggs and eat the babies. Although we saw no such evidence in the

back yard. Still I also saw no evidence of hatching babies either. :(

I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to check it out in case she comes back next year.

I was so jealous that Brian got to watch it all- i was at work (of course).

Its been too hot for the past few months, but otherwise he sits on the lanai an awful lot. I'm so jealous! He gets to see all kinds of cool things back there...
