BANG FOR THE BITE

If you print 'em on recycled paper, there's virtually no downside to keeping this info on-hand (except, of course, that your wallet might end up a little bulky).

COCKTAIL FACT

Not-so-haute pockets: Before the 1800s, fashion with pockets was considered low-class - it signaled that you didn't have a servant to carry your stuff for you.

Wanna make your shopping choices easier than defrosting a meat 'n' cheese turnover?

The Bite

Here's a tip you

can prepare in minutes: Just print out and keep eco-pocket guides in your wallet (or, in some cases, text on your phone) to solve conundrums such as which plastics you can easily recycle and which fish you can safely eat. We're still waiting on the guide to the gnarliest microwavable meals.

The Benefits

Not zapping the earth. Keep important eco-info, such as which fruit and veggies pack the fewest pesticides, handy.

It's healthier than a pizza pocket. Certain pocket guides help you avoid mercury and other nastiness.

Personally Speaking

Jen's loaded - at least according to the size of her wallet, which is stuffed full of pocket guides (except for our Top Five Synthetic Chems to Avoid, which she memorized long ago).

Wanna Try?

Top Five Synthetic Chems to Avoid - our very own guide to which personal care-product ingredients to skip.

BPA Wallet Card - explains how to use a text service to find alternatives to the toxin BPA as well as a list of BPA-free companies.

PlasticPicks - helps you remember which plastics to avoid.

Pocket Seafood Selector - up-to-date list of the most and least sustainable and healthy fish options; also, a fish sustainability info text service.

Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce - know when to spend

your money on organics with this list of the 12 fruits and veggies with the lowest and highest pesticide contamination.
