Guest guest
> Printable Garden Journal Pages from Homestead Garden > http://www.homesteadgarden.com/journal.shtml > Print the following pages, hole punch and place in notebook to create your own journal Cool! But unfortunately, I never keep up with these things. I've relaxed in my garden this year-simplified in a way. I'm not sure if it will all work, but so far it's going well. I've done more interplanting than ever-some of it planned, some happened because I gave up on the early plantings ever sprouting and planted the beds to summer crops and then had the spring stuff sprout a day later. I'll let them grow up together and see how they do. And larkspur, lettuce, chervil and miner's lettuce volunteer all over the place, I let them stay-even in the pathways. Instead of keeping the pathways between my mounded raised beds weeded this year I am mowing them. The weeds are there, but not getting to seed. If they invade the beds, they get yanked. So far, I like it. Takes much less time to weed, it's more comfortable to sit on than bark mulch (except for the prickly lettucs), and it looks nicer. I haven't labled my rows. I do have written down what I bought and I figure as they start bearing I'll be able to tell a roma from a beefsteak tomato, a blue from a fingerling red potato and so on. That seems to give me more freedom to interplant too. So I'm not keeping any notes this year. The beds are looking great. I bought a bunch of goodies, today: manure for the corn, calcium to prevent tomato blossom end rot, iron chelate for just about everything and organic bait for the grasshoppers. I finally got my corn, beans and squash planted. Much later than usual, but not too late, I hope. I'm going to have to start collecting canning supplies and equipment.
