I've heard they won't cross copper. There is some sort of copper tape you can get to put around your plants, and copper strips to make collars. I've been meaning to look for some too. I just planted three small Hostas, and I'm afraid they will get munched once the snails find them.

I have snails. Lots and lots of snails in my vegie garden! I'm looking for a natural, non chemical way to get rid of them. If any of you have dealt with this, could you give me your suggestions?

Thanks!

salt sprinkled on snails works, but euch! Diatomaceaous (sp?) earth sprinkled around plants should keep them away. The sharp little skeletons of the diatoms cut soft bodied critturs. I've also heard of people putting out dishes of beer.

I haven't tried any of the above. Snails are not a problem in my climate, thank goodness.

Beer is a common trap for slugs so i guess it'd work for snails.

I've heard of burint a soda can with the top cut off to the rim and then filling with beer. The smell attracts them, but they can't get out.
