Hi Meighan,

Good to hear from you. :-)I think Avalon was on the list of companies being sued over dioxane. I think you might like to try Dr. Bronners. Maybe some others will have other suggestions for you too.

I've heard people talk about using baking soda to wash their hair, with a vinegar rinse. I have not tried this, but I know people who use it, like it.

Let us know what you try and how you like it. THanks for checking in. :-)Cyndi

Hi there everyone! I haven't posted in quite a while, I like to take all the information in. I do have a question now- what do all of you use for shampoo? I wanted to stop using the traditional, chemically ridden shampoos and went for natural and organic. I purchased Avalon Organics shampoo for dandruff. Does anyone know much about this company? I worry that I am using a product that is not that much better than what I had before. I have heard of people using vinegar and I think it was baking soda? Also, the castille soap too. Anyway I just really want a good sudsy shampoo and not pollute the environment. Any suggestions? Thanks,Meighan

Unfortunately the good "sudsy" is usually sodium laurel sulfate, not good for you or the environment. Get used to less suds. If you need a dandruff shampoo check out Jason's, no SLS. My teen likes it for Dandruff I've used it a couple times for some itching. I think a few Jason's items were on that list too, but I think these natural brands are likely better than drug store. Just do your homework. Those noo poo recipes aren't for everyone, but worth a try if your game.

Hi Meighan,

In my question for a good shampoo, I started with Dr Brommers tea

tree liquid soap which I believe is a basic lye soap (I wanted it as

simple as possible). It suds which I liked. The first time I tried

it, it felt like there was a film left over and it took about 60 min

to brush through it! I let it dry overnight. Wow, did it give my

hair TONS of body (I have long, fine hair & lot of it). Much later,

I read that you're supposed to follow it up with another type of

rinse (I can't remember what that was? vinegar) that will make it

easier to comb through. Anyways, so I tried following it will

coconut oil. Well, a little goes a LONG way & didn't help much with

the combing out part. I never did find out the exact way to use it

because I found the 365 brand shampoo that worked great.

Unfortunately, it was on the dioxane list that came out this week

(ugh!).

A co-worker has told me she uses raw honey to wash her hair and

body. Haven't tried it though! My co-worker has long, thick curly

hair - she also uses straight butter for conditioner and body

lotion. Not sure if I'm going to try that - I like the coconut oil

better.

I'm hoping someone can recommend a reasonably priced, safe shampoo

too!!

Thanks,

Barb
