Guest guest
It's like baking soda-comes from Arm and Hammer. I found a huge bag of it in KMart, I think? You can google it, and possibly find a local source. It's not terribly hard to find. It's fabulous for cleaning. I dump it in the toilet, along with vinegar, and scrub away. cyndi In a message dated 4/23/2008 10:04:46 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, suprmommy writes: Perfect! Guest guest
I just read “A Pocket for Corduroy” for my daughter and at one point Corduroy knocks over a box of washing soap. My first thought was this is what some people are going back to, washing soap. I have no idea what it is either. This book was written in 1978 which is still pretty recent. I don’t remember what my mom used to wash the laundry with in 1978. I was 10.
Guest guest
I think washing soda is sodium carbonate? Soda ash? It's found in the laundry aisle. It's more caustic than using vinegar or baking soda, but nothing as toxic as most of the chemicals and cleaners you find out there. I'm compiling info to make my HOW TO CLEAN EVERYTHING file, lol. Guest guest
Cute family! Thanks for the pics! I'll have to add some too. You can't go wrong with baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice. You can do a lot with just those items. For the harder things, you might eventually have to branch out to a few more items. Even plain salt can be a good scrubbing abrasive, if need be. The vinegar smell doesn't bother me any more. And it doesn't bother my allergies like chemicals do. Please, if you know ANYONE that still uses Pine Sol, warn them that it is TOXIC to cats, it causes liver failure. I don't know what it will do to dogs, or birds, but it can't be good for them either. Well to a lot of people vinegar doesn't smell nice but I happen to like it. And the smell only stays until it dries. But everything worked and I am so happy to not have to put my hands in any chemicals or inhale any chemicals again! Guest guest
I had a friend that called powdered washing detergent washing powders, but there is something completely different that is really called washing powder. Some times different people call things by different names. Kinda like with sodas. Some say pop, some say coke, etc. Kris"Sotirakos, Erika T." <ERIKA.T.SOTIRAKOS wrote: I just read “A Pocket for Corduroy” for my daughter and at one point Corduroy knocks over a box of washing soap. Guest guest
I got mine at Publix. Go to the laundry detergent isle of whatever grocery store you go to and look there. If you can't seem to find it, ask someone. If for somereason they jus shrug, ask them to find someone who might know. Kriscyndikrall wrote: It's like baking soda-comes from Arm and Hammer.
