Guest guest
Would you, if I BEGGED????????? ;-) Kail will gladly help, although he suffers from Early Childhood Canning Memories Trauma. His mom used to be a big canner. When they cleaned out her home to be sold when she went to the assisted living home, they threw away hundreds of rotting and old cans of food, lol. My mother, on the other hand, would not let us even touch a can of food that was dented, for fear of botulism. Can you see why i am afraid to try my own? LOLOL. ;-)Cyndi P.S. Can I put your phone number on speed dial for emergency canning help? LOL. In a message dated 4/23/2008 9:41:52 A.M. It's not hard and you won't kill anyone, even ifyou don't know what you are doing, promise. Just a couple of bushels won't have you cooking/processingmore than a few hours, and you'll have a right good number of quarts to show for your work. I say, why go to the trouble of canning if you don't end up with at least a dozen quarts of something.lolFor me, the most tedious part of the whole thing is removing the skins on the maters after you dunk them in boiling water. If you can get Kail to help, 2 people make it go even faster, even if one of them is a hubby.lolsluggy Messages in this topic (8) Reply (via web post) | Start a new topic Messages | Files | Photos Need a new ride? Guest guest
I thought I'd try something easy like tomato sauce. Also, my family loves those fire roasted tomatoes. I'd like to try my own. I hadn't thought about salsa, but that might not be a bad idea too. I'm not really all that anxiuos to use bushels of tomatoes and hours of cooking for sauce, lol, but maybe I'll try it once, just to get it out of my system, lol. Depends on how many tomatoes I have and how anxious I am to use them up, lol. I need the experience more than anything else! I'm not sure I'll even have the courage to actually eat nything I can, lol. Yes, i'm totally chicken.
