I like this statement:

"How lazy are we going to allow ourselves to get?"

Not only is preparing foods from scratch cheaper, it is healthier. Eliminating all processed foods is the most frugal, healthy thing we can do. Yes, it requires more planning, and more effort, but isn't our health worth it?Buying organic meat and produce may seem like a large investment, but watch the Monsanto video too, and it suddenly won't seem like such a bad thing.

I agree with you completely. You know, I call the way my family lives a "journey". It's a journey because we're always learning, always improving...and it hasnt always been easy. I can tell you that my husband, who is my best friend and favorite human had his blood work done a couple of years ago. His triglycerides were almost 700 SEVEN HUNDRED!!! So he could have had a heart attack at any time. The doc gave him medicine...and he took it...for a week. Until I did a bunch of research on it, and found out that it was HORRIBLE stuff. To make a long story short, I started reading, and doing all kinds of research...and I have gradually changed EVERYTHING about our lives. Three months after he was supposed to

be taking this medication, he went and had his blood work done again...the doc told him the good news was that his numbers were great, the bad news was that he would have to be on this medication for the rest of his life. Brian (my hubby) told the doctor that he made the changes with FOOD. REAL, WHOLESOME FOOD. The kind of food the docs tell us NOT to eat...fertile eggs, raw milk, raw cheeses and CREAM, raw unfiltered and unheated HONEY. Sometimes it IS tough. I am in the kitchen for hours and hours every week, but it is sooooo worth it. I've learned how to bake some really wonderful cookies and cakes and pies with wheat and REAL honey....and yep, it took some work. The changes in my children are HUGE..that's another story in itself! I say keep fighting the good fight...its worth it. Robyncyndikrall wrote: I like this statement: "How lazy are we going to allow ourselves to get?" My husband had a similar story. I made him go to the doctor last year for a physical, and he was truly shocked at how bad off he was, lol. I can laugh about it NOW, but he was just so clueless about his health, it was completely frustrating. I knew it was not good, and thankfully the doctor was able to tell him what he needed to hear. He never took any medicine-I refused to let him-and he was able to lose 25 pounds and drop his cholesterol (I think it was in the 600's) all by eating healthfully and going to the gym. Now he eats what I eat-mostly veggies with just a little meat and dairy. He's happy with the changes we've made, or I could never have made him do it.

Wow..isnt it fantastic, what good foods can do?We thought we were doing well back then because we were eating very little fat, that kind of thing...boy were we wrong! Now I dont know what I'd do without my raw milk, butter....mmmmmmmm.......all the GOOD stuff. My hubby and I both feel great, and like I said, the difference in the kids...mostly our daughter...has been amazing. YAY.cyndikrall wrote: My husband had a similar story.
