Guest guest
I thought this was interesting...this site has soap making instructions, plus places to buy healthy, natural soaps if you are like me and would rather not make your own, lol. Don't get me wrong, I've made soap many times, and enjoyed it very much, but that was glycerin-based soaps, and I haven't tried other ways, and don't really have the time/patience now. You can also go to the home page and browse thru other DIY projects. We've posted a link to this website before, but for the benefit of those who may not have seen it, a repeat is always nice. cyndi http://waltonfeed.com/old/soaphome.htmlPlanning your summer road trip? Guest guest
I used to belong to several soap making sites years ago. If I remember correctly, there is nothing "wrong" with natural, vegetable glycerin, but the soaps made with things like vegetable base oils, goats milk, etc. are the ones that are superior in quality and "good" for your skin. For the same reason naturally occurring glycerin is fine in tooth soap, it's fine in regular soap, but isn't vegetable glycerin still a synthetic product? I have read where glycerin is added to other soaps and products to make them pourable or more emollient. I think it's still a "filler" ingredient, like in regular toothpaste. I hope some soap makers will give us their experiences. Maybe this should be a Question Of The Week, lol. What soap do you all use?Cyndi In a message dated 4/6/2008 11:40:40 A.M. Guest guest
Since I never used home made soaps I do not have anything to say about them. No experience whatsoever. The only comment I have is that the site you sent makes the soap in round tube shape. I imagine it would be better fitting in a hand if it was rectangle or oval shape. The soap I use most of the time is Dr. Bronner's laveder pure castile soap. Barbara I used to belong to several soap making sites years ago. Guest guest
That is the same soap I use for my body, face, even use it in my laundry soap recipe. The first time I used it in the shower, though, I couldn't shake the feeling of "old lady" since Ihaven't smelled real lavender since my great aunt and great grandmother were still with us. I got over it quickly after that, and love it. The other scents are awesome, too. I have the peppermint and the unscented that I have yet to use, as well as the liquid in almond (which I also use in my laundry soap). My skin is super sensitive, and I have no issues with this soap, even on my multiple personality face. ~Kriscyndikrall wrote: I keep meaning to try this!
