Guest guest
Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year. Hmmm, now why can't I remember what I was going to write about for TreeHugger today. Maybe it's all those chemicals affecting my brain... LEAD ON THE BRAIN : In a disturbing study released recently, it appears that early childhood exposure to lead may, in fact, lead to an acceleration of the normal aging of the brain. As Dr. Brian Schwartz of John Hopkins University put it, “We’re trying to offer a caution that a portion of what has been called normal aging might in fact be due to ubiquitous environmental exposures like lead.” And lead’s not the only pollutant you may have to worry about… Because Schwartz goes on to say that other pollutants like mercury and some pesticides may well do the same thing. And while there is insufficient research on mercury to date, recent studies suggest pesticide exposure raises the risk for Parkinson’s disease a decade or more after the time of exposure. . ::More Pink Gold How far down the food chain will we go to get our protein? It may or may not be chemicals affecting our brain; sometimes we are just forgetful . Over at Planet Green we suggested that one way to get recession ready was to take your own lunch to work, but how often to you make it the night before and then forget it in the fridge? Here is an idea: Put your keys on top of your lunch in the fridge and you won't forget it. Great idea, that is, if you drive a car or you bike. Kelly does see a potential downside to this. What if you walk or take transit, and don't need your keys when you leave the house? Then at lunch time you'll get that sinking feeling in your stomach when you realize that not only will you go hungry, but you'll also be locked out and cold, to boot. Maybe you could put your bus fare on top of your lunch! .::More on Planet Green Don't ever forget to have a daily look at Planet Green!
