Gathering nuts before the winter snow?

The Bite

If your answer's " Nut so much, " don't worry. Purveyors of organic nuts are gathering 'em for you and making them available year-round. Organic means fewer pesticides and healthier critters in nature.

The Benefits

Health-nut happiness. A study conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health found that people who ate more than 5 oz of nuts per week suffered 1/3 fewer heart attacks.

Nuturally beautiful hair and skin. Nuts are a great source of essential fatty acids that promote skin and hair health.

Nibbling away at pesticide use. In addition to being carcinogens, some pesticides used on nuts are potential groundwater contaminants, so look for organic.

Personally Speaking

In a rush, Jen recently ate four handfuls of mixed nuts as a meal on a very empty stomach - and had to cancel a date that night thanks to the resulting tummyache.
