Guest guest
Feeling the need to vent. In our house, our dogs and cats are family. We have a hierarchy, the animals know it and we treat them well. When money is tight, we always make sure they have food before we do. That said, one of our neighbors has a pure bread cocker spaniel who is maybe 10 weeks, but she looks 6. She was taken early from her mom because of litter problems. Well the kids begged and begged for this dog. The parents said yes, grandma said not in my house. So this tiny little dog is all alone outside. If that isn’t bad enough, they forget to feed and water her, let alone see to her important nutritional needs since she was taken so early. She gets so excited over human contact that she just pees everywhere. I don’t want to call animal control and my husband has forbidden me from bringing another animal into the house (he does get tired of eating PB & J), but it’s killing me. Why must parents give their kids everything if they are not going to take care of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A friend gets home this evening and I will talk to her about the pup. But I had to vent. It’s killing me. My stomach is in a wrench. Oh, what I would do with more money…more land, place for animals to be safe and get healthy. I need to crawl under a rock before I hurt someone. Guest guest
Leslie, all you can do right now is to feed the poor puppy and play with her so she will be socialized. If the puppy is outside 24/7 without the food, water and shelter, you can call humane society and they may take a puppy away from them. You could also sneak the puppy and give her to someone who will want her, but that is stealing and if you get caught, you may have to pay for it...so think twice before you do it... Guest guest
It it were me-and let me make it clear that this is ONLY me-that dog would "disappear" from their yard one day and be whisked away to a new home. It doesn't have to be with you, but you could find it a new home, which should be easy if it is a purebred pup, not too old, and friendly. There is no excuse for this in my mind. I have ZERO tolerance for people who abuse their pets. And make no mistake, this IS abuse. Especially for such a young puppy. If you don't want to take the pet from the yard-which of course is highly illegal and drastic, so I wouldn't blame you, lol- then a good course of action is to talk to the parents about your concerns. They may be relieved to have somone take the problem off their hands. I don't think you want to be writing the same email to us a year, two years from now, with twice as much frustration and anger. The dog can't speak for herself. I wish I could do something to help you. :-( Cyndi Leslie O'Brien <leslie RealSimple Mon, 29 Oct 2007 2:05 pm [RealSimple] mommy/daddy buy me that - OT Feeling the need to vent. Guest guest
Oh, believe me, I’ve seriously considered it. But hubby sits on the board of our hoa and EVERYONE knows me. She does occasionally get out, which I’m keeping an eye out for and I will be talking to the home owners. (hoa issues) and then I can safely bring up the puppy w/o being a snoop. Have to tread delicately. <<hubbiy’s orders. leslie RealSimple [RealSimple ] On Behalf Of carle dehning Tuesday, October 30, 2007 4:29 AM RealSimple [RealSimple] Re: mommy/daddy buy me that - OT mmm. the puppy is bound to 'disappear'.
