Gluten Free Oats: Real Oat Goodness

At Bob’s Red Mill, we listen to you. Whether you want a new formula for our pancake mixes, more whole grain dessert options, or simply more organic choices, we strive to bring them to you. As far back as we can remember, you, our valued customers, have been asking for gluten free oats.

For those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, oats are a challenge. While oats do not contain gluten, they often share some part of their life with gluten containing grains—from the fields where they grow to the mills that process them. Oats are extremely nutritious and nothing beats a bowl of hot oatmeal for breakfast.

At Bob’s Red Mill we take our gluten free products seriously. We always bring you the highest quality grains available. It has taken us over two years to find the purest oats available. We have spoken to farmers and visited their farms. We have conducted innumerable gluten tests on sample after sample. Contrary to what mother told you, not all oats are created equal. After finding clean oat groats, the next step making the groats into the delicious oats you expect. We have baked and tested, tasted and cooked until we have found perfection. Creamy and delicious, these oats will delight your whole family.

We proudly present two new additions to our gluten free family--Gluten Free Rolled Oats and Gluten Free Steel Cut Oats.

To show our excitement about bringing these special oats to you, we are offering a 20% discount on Gluten Free Rolled and Steel Cut Oats through the month of September.

Gluten Free Rolled Oats

Our Gluten Free Rolled Oats are pure. They are grown by over 200 farmers on clean, dedicated oat-growing fields. They plant only non-GMO “pedigreed” seed stock. Each farm delivery is sampled hundreds of times and tested with an R5 ELISA gluten test to ensure the absence of gluten. Advanced color-sorting removes undetected impurities. Roasting enhances that wholesome, robust flavor you expect. The oats are packaged in our new, 100% gluten free facility and tested for gluten again to ensure their purity.

*Please be advised that a small percentage of people with celiac disease may not tolerate even the purest of oats. If you are unsure whether oats are suitable for your diet, please check first with your health advisor before eating them.

September is Whole Grains Month

Whole Grains Month reminds us to focus on eating more whole grains. Choosing whole grains across the board can be challenging. Our friends at the Whole Grains Council have made it easier than ever with these "baby-steps" to adding whole grains:

Look for the Whole Grain Stamp (see right) on products every time you shop.

Buy whole wheat pasta and try it.

For breakfast, cook a batch of whole grain oatmeal.

Serve bulgur or brown rice instead of potatoes with dinner one night this month.

If whole grains are not on the menu at your favorite restaurant- ask for them.

For the complete list, visit the Whole Grains Council by clicking here.
