Guest guest
I thought this sounded interesting. Has anyone ever tried something like this?Cyndi http://www.newstarget.com/021860.htmlSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
I see what you mean, Cee. I hadn't thought it through completely. I was thinking about it more for taking it when you feel a cold or flu coming on than an every day thing. Building a healthy immune system is more important than relying on a cure-all to keep away the nasties. I do the same things you do-I've had a compromised immune system for so long that I'm just plain scared about getting a cold or flu. And it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan in case that bird flu ever does migrate to humans-although I have my doubts it ever will. I've heard people on other lists who swear by stuff like this, which is why it caught my eye. They even mix up their own batches. Thanks for the input. :-)Cyndi In a message dated 5/23/2007 7:58:14 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, cbrowne writes: Years ago...yes. If there was a serious bout of flu sweeping the nation or my immune system was suppressed (due to medical treatment or something radical like that), I would use it short term to get through the more dangerous times. But to use it all the time like some people do? Nope. Studies have shown that with echinacea (as with most immune system boosters), it tends to lose it effectiveness with repeated or long term use, so if you are going to use it long term, you need to do a three-weeks-on and one-week-off cycle. Even THAT I would not recommend, but it's better than endless exposure.More importantly than just losing its effectiveness, think about this; how healthy would it be to live on anti-biotics all the time? Any surviving bacteria becomes stronger and the ability for your body to fight off bacteria on its own becomes compromised. Viruses are not beneficial to our bodies the way some bacteria are, however, the principal is still the same. If you "depend" on medication long term (natural or otherwise), your ability to fight it off naturally is diminished. Viruses, like bacteria, mutate and find their way around the resources protecting you. I would consider this stuff to be a medication to be used sparingly as needed, not an everyday thing as the manufacturers recommend.Since I quit using the stuff and went back to better habits, (wash my hands all the time, never touch my face, stand at least 3 feet away from anyone coughing or sneezing, etc.), I am AMAZED at how seldom I get sick compared to before. I simply use good hygiene to protect myself and it works... <smiles>--Celia--RealSimple , cyndikrall wrote:>> I thought this sounded interesting. Guest guest
LOL! I must have jumped to conclusions and assumed that you meant to take it all the time. My bad! --Cee-- Re: Power Immune Posted by: "cyndikrall" cyndikrall cyndik2 Wed May 23, 2007 9:32 am (PST) I see what you mean, Cee. I hadn't thought it through completely.
