Guest guest
I have had a few requests for my homemade beauty recipes so, here are some of my favorites. Enjoy! Melonie Cape Coral, FL Lemon Facial Toner Smooth toner over face with a cotton ball to help even out skin tone. 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice Grated zest of 1 lemon 1 cup distilled water 2/3 cup witch hazel Combine all ingredients in a clear bottle and seal with a stopper. Shake well before each use. Keeps for a month in the refrigerator. Foaming Hot Chocolate Milk Bath Soak in this rich milk bath to soothe and soften your skin. Heat 3 tablespoons of dry bath mix with 1/2 cup water and 2 tablespoons olive oil in a pan and bring to a boil. Add the hot mixture to bathwater while the tub is filling. 1 cup instant nonfat dry milk 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 cup baking soda 2 tablespoons cornstarch 2 tablespoons cream of tartar 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon Make the milk bath: Combine all ingredients in a jar, cover, and store. Keeps for up to six months. Therapaeudic Bath Salts 6 cups epsom salts 2 cups baking soda 1 cup sea salt Combine all ingredients in a large jar with lid, shake until thoroughly blended. Store salts into a decorative jar or container in the bathroom. Homemade Toothpaste 1 Tsp baking soda, 1/4 Tsp hydrogen peroxide 1 drop oil of peppermint Mix to make a paste, dip toothbrush into mixture, brush as usual. Sugar and Spice Spa Mixture 1/2 cup baking soda 2 tbs. borax 2 tbs. sugar 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground ginger 1/4 tsp. ground cloves Mix together all the ingredients until well blended. To use: add 2 tbs. of the bath mix to a warm tub of water. Store the mixture in a clean, dry container. HAIR REMOVER Juice of 1/2 a lemon 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup honey cornstarch clean cloth cotton strips wooden stick or spreader Dust the area to be waxed, with cornstarch. Combine the first three ingredients in a clean glass bowl, and microwave for two minutes. Stop and stir your sugar mixture every 20-30 seconds. Let it cool to a comfortable warmth, and, using a wooden stick, spread a very thin layer onto your clean skin. Immediately cover the mixture with a strip of cotton fabric. Briskly stroke the strip several times in the direction of the hair growth, and then, pull the skin taut, and quickly rip away the cotton strip, against the direction of hair growth. As you proceed, you may need to reheat your sugar mixture in the microwave to keep it warm. Do not boil it or overheat as you could easily burn your skin. Beach Sand Foot Scrub 2 Tablespoons Canola oil 2 Tablespoons dry beach sand 3-5 drops rosemary oil Mix, scrub on feet, rinse, pat dry. Rosemary Bath Salts Ingredients: 2 long sprigs fresh rosemary 1 cup sea salt Directions: Add the salt to a large dish, cut the rosemary into about half inch pieces and add to the dish of salt. Gently fold the fresh rosemary into the salt and let sit for a while. The longer you let the mixture rest, the more the salt will absorb the herb. Add the complete mixture to a tub full of warm water, relax and soak. *If you wish you can remove the rosemary pieces from the salts before adding them to your water, but they can be easily removed before draining your bath water and are quite nice in the tub. A touch of oil may also be added to your salts. Rosemary-Sage Hair Shine Rinse Ingredients: 3 sprigs fresh or dried rosemary 1 quart water about half a handful of fresh or dried sage squirt of fresh lemon juice Directions: Bring all ingredients to a gentle boil for about 10 minutes, turn off heat and let steep for 15 minutes or so. Strain; let come to room temperature or add cool water to bring down the temp. Pour this over fresh washed hair and let it sit for 2 minutes. Rinse. Your hair will be beautiful and shiny. Enjoy! Spa Mani & Pedi Scrub Ingredients: 2- 3 tbsp Sugar-any kind, white, brown, raw Oil-just a bit-any kind, olive, sunflower, almond 1 tsp Honey 1/4 tsp. Cocoa Powder (optional) Directions: In a small bowl, gently mix sugars, cocoa powder (if desired) and honey. Drizzle in your oil of choice, just enough to make your desired scrub consistency, not too much, just a bit, mix. Apply to clean feet and hands using a circulation motion to exfoliate and moisturize, rinse and pat dry. Enjoy! Spiced Cocoa & Coffee Sugar Scrub Ingredients: 1/2 cup sugar 1tbs cocoa powder 2 tsp ground coffee pinch of cinnamon & nutmeg 2 tbs oil-canola, sunflower, whatever you have on hand Directions: In a dish, mix together sugar, cocoa, coffee, and spices.
