CSA's are expensive even in my area. I'm going to try the local farmers markets this year, and I'm hoping I can find enough local organic produce that I won't need to sign up for a CSA. And I'm hoping my local food co-op can find what I can't, lol.

Well, I could not either without permanently giving up all citrus fruits, avacados, cocnuts, bananas, etc., which I don't want to do. On the other hand, the bulk of my diet could easily be within 100 miles if I had the time and money. (Mainly money.) There is an organic CSA farm that delivers to my neighborhood each week during the warm months (about 6 months each year) but it's VERY expensive. My 5 year goals includes enough financial recovery in about 3-1/2 years that if all works well, I *might* be able to do it at that time...<crosses fingers>--Cee--

I've found that even our local grocery stores have a section of Vermont grown/made food products. Yours probably do too. Just today I was amazed to find Vermont organic bread :) I can't do it all but I can change at least a portion of my diet.Ellen Christian Lilac Hill Homestead http://tinyurl.com/lpfaf
