Well we are snowed in. We have over a foot of snow now and it does not look like it will end soon. We are expecting over two feet plus sleet. The chickens/ducks chose not to come outside today. I had to shovel away from the coop before I could open the doors. I've been out 3x today to give them food & water and I'll go out one more time before dark to settle them in for the night. The bunny is hibernating but I'll give him more fresh water when I go out. I bet I look mighty funny in my jumper hiking through snow past my knees balancing a bucket of water in one hand while I try not to fall down. We have plenty of food stocked up. I never let the food get low in the winter. That's our one "emergency" we have here in Vermont - snow & ice storms. I stocked up on chicken/duck food too just to be safe. I have a big batch of split pea soup &

ham going in the crock pot for dinner. I just made a batch of homemade vanilla pudding for snacks later on too. The wood stove is crackling nice and hot just in case we loose power. There are two cars stuck in the snow out in front of the house. I haven't seen a plow go by in hours. There were three cars but one managed to get unstuck and back out onto the main road. I can't see anyone getting up this dirt road covered with snow without a plow on the front of their truck. This last guy just got stuck in the front of our driveway so I guess we aren't going anywhere soon unless he manages to move his vehicle. I'm very thankful for the blessings we have!Ellen LaFleche-Christian Lilac Hill Homestead / Vermont http://tinyurl.com/lpfaf
