Guest guest
We got a ft to 2 ft. around here. All the businesses and offices decided to let employees go and closed around 1pm. They ended up sending them all out in their cars at the worst time of the storm.....it was coming down so heavily then that nothing was being plowed. We are a regular over the road truck route for traffic going to New England(they swing west to avoid going through NYC metro area). The 18 wheelers tried to keep going instead of pulling over to wait it out. Then the local workers jumped onto the unplowed roadways. So.....they all got stuck. Then the plows couldn't get through the cars to plow. The interstates were a parking lot north bound through our area.....they finally closed the roads down but not soon enough. People sat for miles from 2pm yesterday til now(5am) and are still there. Cars out of gas, dead batteries. Pics on the tv of the national guardsmen using hummers to rescue folks to shelters or home. Abandoned cars and 18 wheelers everwhere that now have to be towed before they can clear the roads....what a mess! Dan was heading south on the interstate and he left ahead of the crowds so he was lucky....I still don't know how he got home!lol Since he has to use that stretch of interstate northbound to get to work, he's staying home today if I have to tie him down...... sluggy
Guest guest
Sluggy, this is awful. Hope something will be done to get the road cleared. I didn't see this on our news, but maybe I missed it. I only watch for 40 minutes each morning, just to see the most important news and the weather. So glad that your hubby is safe at home...
