Guest guest
Does anyone here do any sprouting? I'm fond of fresh sprouts like alfalfa in place of lettuce in salads, sandwiches, etc., (especially since I control what goes into it!)??? --Cee--
Guest guest
I used to sprout, back in the 70's when it was all the rage. :-)WF has a nice supply of fresh sprouts. I actually meant to look for some sprouting jars the last time I went there, but I forgot. I'll remember one of these times. Do you grow any other sprouts, or just alfalfa? I really like them on veggie sandwiches, especially with avocado. Cyndi In a message dated 2/14/2007 3:19:50 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, cbrowne writes: Does anyone here do any sprouting? Guest guest
Like you, the bulk of my sprouting was back in the day when it was all the rage. Did so many different kinds that I don't remember them all! Was always disappointed in mung bean sprouts as they did not turn out like the kind in Chinese food, but then I found out that they use some special gases to get them to grow so big! One e-mail pal of mine has a neat way of doing lentil sprouts...just soak them in tepid water for 8 to 12 hours, drain, sprinkle them in a baking pan on top of wet paper towel, cover and place in a dark place for a couple of days. No need to rinse or anything! (She doesn't use her stove very much so she just places them inside there.) I haven't tried it myself yet...but now that I have more time, I plan on getting into it more again. --Cee-- Re: Anyone here do sprouting???
